Disneyland CA getting into DVC act...touts everywhere...also saying big news coming

We have annual passes to Disneyland Resort Anaheim CA. Yesterday we have just noticed several booths around Disneyland Park with DVC brochures, catalogs, handouts and calendars trying to sign people up for DVC 60 min tours in the Park. They give $50 gift cards for your time and promise no high pressure sales.

I did not notice them there last year but maybe I missed them. They seem to finally be getting into the DVC act.

I complained to the tout that DVC is mostly FL based and since I live in So. Cal I really have no interest in paying to travel to Florida or Orlando. We have Disneyland and DCA right here 10 mins away. I told him they need DVC resorts here in Cali.

He claimed he could not say anything nor really answer any questions I posed to him about DVC but he did say there was supposed to be some big announcement this week and alluded to it being about a new DVC property in So. Cal. Has anyone heard about this?

We may just go on the tour to see what is up.

Reminds me of Marriott with booths and OPCs at the airport in Charlotte NC. That really surprised me. Maybe they are learning new ways of placing OPCs in airports and everywhere else from the novel ways they do it in Mexico.

The DISers knew that the Disney Magic was going to Europe in 2007 as well as a return to MX in 2008 because they scour the 'port' websites - this is one smart group.
It will be nice to have a DVC to trade into in CA

More Dreams come true for Disneyland

The January 24 press event is ...
Disney Vacation Club members will have a dream fulfilled as Disney announces the first DVC property in California. A new wing of the Grand California Hotel will be constructed on a wide grassy area adjacent to the hotel, and will include traditional hotel-style rooms as well as the distinctive studio units, one- and two-bedroom "vacation homes" and three-bedroom Grand Villas that DVC members expect. Disney has already confirmed plans for a similar expansion of the Animal Kingdom Lodge in Walt Disney World to add DVC accommodations to that resort.

All I've been able to find on the other sites are rumors... I sooooo want a DL DVC, and I've been scouring all the "mouse" sites for updates on this one!

I just spoke to the same DVC tout when we were at Disneyland Resort last night and he said no official announcment has been made. Still to come.
