  • Disney Cruise Line

Although not a TS - the Disney Cruise Line is a great vacation when you want to get OUT of the TS for a while.

Here is a Link to my Trip Report from 11/11/06 "Double Dip" Cruise - 2 stops at Castaway Cay.
    ENJOY!

Awesome!! I have cruised but only with princess. I actually just got back 2 weeks ago tomorrow. So is there any exchange company that you can bank your week and take a cruise? I thought I have seen that somewhere, or was it just wishful thinking?? I love cruising. Now that I have a timeshare, I am going to have to split my vacations up. So I wont be taking a cruise next year because I have my 1 week TS and I want to go back home to visit family for a week. I am 31 and a single parent. I live in Michigan and all my family lives 2000 miles away, so visiting family is important, as well as vacationing.

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

I didn't trade a week in to cruise - the deals that are offered by the exchange company are usually not good - you can do just as well on your own.
Disney has many single parents traveling....

Wow, sounds like thats the kind of cruise I need to take......Find me a cute single mother that likes to cruise

I havent taken a disney cruise because they are sooo expensive. Usually I could book two cruises for the price of 1 disney cruise. But I just may have to try it sometime before my girls get too big. They are 8 and 10 right now.

Disney cruises are awesome. My spouse plus our son/spouse and our two grandkid's just loved this cruise. So much that we are doing the Disney park vacation and the cruise package this year.

                Great pics !!

Can't help you with your date issue - you are on your own

Yes, it is an expensive vacation in that there are MANY cruise lines that offer a cheaper cruise. But the level of service on DCL is wonderful - my husband wishes he had employees like Disney. And they also strictly enforce the 'adult areas' of the ship - I love seeing the kids and interacting with them but I also enjoy my adult time.

I do too-I'm afraid it applies to many of us

Are the Disney cruises worth the extra money? I notice that their prices are a lot more than the other cruise lines for the same trip - more or less?

Yes! Disney Cruises ranks very high in the cruise industry.

I have been on 3x DCL and love it. I really want to do a double dip crusie, but they don't offer them during the Summer. I recently met one of the finance guys for DCL (last week in DVC-HHI on the beach) and had an interesting conversation with him.

He simply summed up Disney - they want to maximize their profits. Yes, their crusies are MORE money, but if you have kids...it is worth it.

Our only cruise to date was back in 1986 & cost a fortune! My son went on one of those bargain cruises a couple of years ago & said it wasn't worth the money even at bargain prices. Cruises are much more affordable today since there are so many more choices & more middle class folks are going on cruises. Our Disney loving adult kids talked us into going next year with them. They absolutely love the Disney cruises. I'm not a big cruise fan but this one sounds wonderful since we can enjoy the stuff that appeals to us older adults & still be vacationing with our Yuppie kids and our grandchildren, too. There is something for all of us on a Disney cruise. Worth every penny. I tend to disagree that the DCL is expensive. On a cruise I think you generally get what you pay for. The cheaper the cruise, the cheaper the amenities. I don't want just hot dogs & hamburgers & kareoke. I want filet mignon & lobster & Broadway shows.

Well on Princess you get all of the above but the price is cheaper. By the way you get King Crab Legs too. I ate 6 lobster tails. The shows are awesome!!! They have pool games, and all kinds of competitions, They teach line dancing, they have some themed nights, (tropical, 50's, country hoe down, Latin) They have newleywed and not so newlywed games, comedians, etc... So its not just karaoke and hot dogs and hamburgers....there is luxury dining, there is a buffet 24hrs aday, there is pizza, hamburgers, hot dogs, chicken etc....pool side, Ice Cream!!! The waiters and all the staff treat you like royalty. So what you are really paying for is the Disney Environment. Like I said earlier I can book 2 cruises for my family for the price I would pay for 1 cruise on Disney. Yes I am sure it is a good experience.....and yes I will probably go on a Disney cruise just to say I have been and of course the kids will enjoy it. But I dont necessarily agree in this situation that you get what you pay for.....It is my opinion that you are just paying for the environment....Again just my opinion
