Here's an article in the Orlando Sentinel about DVC at the Contemporary:

Walt Disney Co. to sell time shares in 15-story tower next to Contemporary Resort -- OrlandoSentinel.com

Wow, that sure will be a great location, with the monorail right there.

I love the Magic Kingdom and the monorail resorts, so we'll probably do an add-on if the points charts are halfway decent.

So they finally admitted it, eh? That will be nice one to visit, but I am probably in the minority: I would rather stay at Boardwalk Villas most years.

But Tammie Kaufman, a professor at the University of Central Florida who teaches courses on time shares, said time shares could remain popular even during an economic slump because consumers will want to stretch their vacation money further.

"People are looking for a bargain," Kaufman said.
Those comments have me stumped, for a couple reasons. DVC timeshares are nice, but not exactly a "bargain."

They teach college courses on time shares? Timesharing 101?

That's what the article said. I clicked on the link for the university and searched timeshares and timeshares 101 it came up with nothing..............

I'm with you. Boardwalk Villas are my favorite Disney timeshare. I love being able to walk to Epcot, and even MGM, if I don't mind walking a bit further. but, I do think that being on the monorail, and so close to MK, is great.

It is great with little kids! That way when they get pooped out, you just take the monorail out and put them down for their nap. They are refreshed and ready to go again in a couple hours. With adults only, I don't see this as a big advantage as most of us can hack a full day at the park without trouble.

                But with cranky little ones....

For those of you that like Boardwalk, do you prefer that to Beach Club? If so, why?

I've stayed at BCV but not Boardwalk. Just curious what you like about it (aside from location).

BWV is my family's favorite too! However, we will definitely be visiting Kingdom Towers

BWV is absolutely magical during the Christmas Holiday season! With the gingerbread smells in the lobby and the special events like having a choir singing or orchestra playing in the Village Green area. Then include the other activities going on the Boardwalk itself...pure magic .

My DS6 loves BWV because of the pool!

We have been intrigued by the Beach Club however. What do YOU like about it?

I haven't much to compare with, since we've only been to Orlando once (staying at BCV). Beach Club is in a great location for access to the Epcot IllumiNations show. With park-hopper passes we could go to any of the parks for the day, back to BCV for dinner, over to Epcot for IllumiNations, and back to BCV for the night. Also, the pool complex at BCV is great for kids. We will be going back this year to stay at Wilderness Lodge -- have to try something different. Maybe next time it will be BWV.

There certainly was a BIG construction project going on there when i visited in December ..... So many resorts, so little time!

I own at Boardwalk but Beach Club is my favorite. Stormalong Bay rules! Also, I love being so close to Epcot (although Boardwalk is only a little further.)

The biggest plus to owning at Boardwalk, as I see it, is that you can get the "standard view" rooms for substantially discounted points. Those are often all booked by the time owners at other DVC resorts can book at the 7 month window. (Of course, getting Beach Club at the 7 month window is no piece of cake, either.) I do like the quiet pool at Boardwalk, too -- if you get a room on the first floor poolside, it's almost like you have a private pool! But, I really don't like Boardwalk's feature pool. Pennyworthy the Clown creeps me out!

A lot of people like Boardwalk because of the live entertainment, shops, and nightlife. But the way I see it, if you stay at Beach Club, you can easily get all that just by walking to the Boardwalk or taking the boat over. However, if you stay at Boardwalk, you can't use Stormalong Bay. That's why I prefer staying at Beach Club. If I didn't love Stormalong Bay so much, I'd probably prefer Boardwalk.
