  • Disney - Q: RE - Banking DVC Points

    Will someone help explain Banking
DVC - Disney Vacation Club Points

When I went to the new DVC Members Website
Found the following alert - What does this mean

You may bank up to 100% of your Vacation Points
You may bank up to 50% of your Vacation Points
You may bank up to 25% of your Vacation Points
You may bank up to 0% of your Vacation Points

Member ID number xxxxxxxxxxxx until the end of xx 2006.

    There are three banking deadlines:
100%, up to 50%, and up to 25%.

You can bank up to 100% of your points at any time within the
first six months of your use year

You can bank up to 50% of your points by the end of the ninth
    month of your use year,

You can bank up to 25% of your points, cumulative, by the end of the
10th month, and no banking in the last two months of your use year.

Marti, it looks like you have all the info, so now you just need to know how to put it into practice.

On a side note for next time, we don't usually publish the "(800) number" for Member Services on the Internet.

The biggest thing to remember is that banking totals are cumulative.
Lets say you have a September use year and 200 points:

If you want to bank all your points, you must do so by Feb 28.
But instead let's say you only want to want to book 100 points, and you do so by March 15. That is fine since you are within your 50% banking window of May 31.

    Now the cumulative part:
On June 15 you decide you want to bank another 25 points. You can not bank those points because you are past the 50% window, and already have 50% of you points banked.

In other words, the 50% applies to your total points, not the points you have left.

Does that make sense? If not, ask more questions.

What length of time do you have to use banked points?

        Using banked points

You need to use the banked points in the Use Year following the original Use Year for the points. For instance, if you bank your 2006 points you will need to use them during your 2007 Use Year. When you make a reservation in 2007, be sure they use the banked points from 2006 not the regular points from 2007.

By the way, you can't bank borrowed points and you can't borrow banked points.
