  • What should I pack?

My husband and I have never stayed in a timeshare before. What should we bring in the way of paper products or towels and things? We are used to the daily service of regular hotels and are looking for some advice.

Most timeshares will have some kind of initial supply of paper products, soaps and even laundry detergent. We usually wait until we arrive to see what is there and what we'll need to buy.

We are staying at DVC though with no car. We are using the magical express for transportation. Any suggestions on what we should bring with us?

Depending on the unit size that you're in, you will have at least the following:

toilet paper, towels, paper towels, dish soap, sponge/scrubber, some paper plates and bowls, untensils, cups, etc. Worst case scenario, you can request additional of any of these for perhaps a small extra charge. It is Disney, so customer service is generally top notch. If you're in anything larger than a studio, you'll have regular plates and other dishes, pots/pans, whole kitchen really. You won't have spices or other little odds and ends that you might use at your kitchen at home.

If you're staying more than a few days, you will have a trash and towel service on Day 4 of your visit where virtually everything is replenished. If staying more than a week, you'll get full maid service on day 7.

Each of the Disney resorts also has a small grocery store on site (ask at the front desk where it is as it varies by resort) where you can buy some basic grocery items (although the prices are fairly high). If you want to do a lot of cooking or have certain specialty items that you just MUST have, then there is a service that will deliver groceries to the resort for a fee (prices are fairly reasonable, but with the delivery fee you won't want to do this for some bread and milk). And you can always rent a car or take a taxi if you want to go shopping yourself.

Most of the time when we visit Disney, we take a few groceries in our suitcases, buy the rest there and never leave Disney property. With Magical Express, it's very doable.

        Hope this helps.

          DVC - what to pack

Since you will not have a car, I suggest that you pre-order your groceries, which will be delivered to your unit in advance. Groceries on-site are more expensive with less selection. go to: GardenGrocer.com, The Selection of a SUPERMARKET Delivered to Your Door! they deliver to all WDW properties and charge a low $15 delivery fee. Good luck! We are going in March and will be doing the same.

When we stay at a DVC we always pack clothes for 4 days only (saves on luggage). Midway during our trip we do a loan of laundry. If you have a 1BR or larger the washer and drying will be in the unit. If you have a studio the washers and dryers are located throughout the resort usually located next to a pool. So, you can "relax" while doing the laundry. It only takes but an hour.

In a studio they will provide you with a small sink, fridge and microwave, paper dishes and cups and plastic forks, etc. In a 1BR or larger you get a full kitchen with everything you will need for cooking, serving and cleaning.

The only thing I bring from home is a can of Lysol to spray down room (had the family get the stomach bug while we were there last Nov and I do this now on all our to all our hotel stays) The only kitchen supplies I bring is for our for our toddler. (smaller fork, spoon and sippy cups). AND a extra dish towel - they only supply one and once it gets wet it is useless to me!

If you are in a studio - the fridge will not hold much - so there is no need to get a grocery service for that kind of stuff. What you will want to put in the fridge you can find at the store on site. If you have a 1BR there is definately more room for (in the fridge and just counter space) to have the groceries delivered.

I have always used Marge at Grocery Delivery Service Provided By WeGoShop.com. Grocery Delivery Service From Your Favorite Grocery Store. and have never been disappointed. We don't eat "meals" in our room - but we will eat breakfast. I always get a case of water (much cheaper than park prices) snacks, milk, cereal, coffee, juice, yogurt and some fresh fruit....and a couple bottles of wine! I always forget something on the order - but the onsite store will have it.

            Have a great trip!
