  • Grand Californian Villas on sale finally

I have been reading about the folks who bought DVC in CA and how they were able to start purchasing points today. Regular members are supposed to get their chance March 25. Villas are supposed to open November 30, 2009.

$112/pt, $5 off per point and matching developer points good at SSR or DL hotels or RCI deposits until October 3, 2009. Minimum 100 pts per add-on (same UY s master contract), or 160 minimum for a new Master contract.

Points needed for a few nights in the summer (when we might go) seem very high. For example, July in a two-bedroom, Sun-Thurs, 62 pts per night! MFs are $3.82 each point, which I guess makes the stay only $236.84/night, which is VERY reasonable for a full kitchen large villa at DL, so I suppose it would be worth it to stay right there.

My guide told me that they were also offering the points to other DVC members starting today, just not those of us (me) who bought resale. She says that my name was coded differently somehow. Anyhow, you can get two free DL Annual Passes if you buy 220 points in Anaheim. She seemed to think that there would be plenty of points available for sale in March. Who knows! I need to find some money or just wait for resale.

Denise, don't forget that your kids are growing up but then there are families that go often even when they are grown-up. I like our local Disneyland because it is compact but it has changed so much from when I started coming here.

Emmy, I absolutely love the Disneyland I grew up with, but I agree that it has changed so much. I haven't been there in about four years now because of the price of staying onsite at the hotels. I would love to buy points there and go for three nights every year. When my kids grow tired of it, I'd go by myself .

We really love Walt Disney World, but the price of airfare for four is getting ridiculous, so I most likely will have to sell our Orlando points one of these days.
