It sounds like it works the same for DVC as it has for HGVC. With HGVC, we have access to an RCI "corporate" account, not an individual account. We need to call for any transactions. There is a set number of HGVC points needed for an RCI trade, based on RCI season and unit size. Even though we do not get to personally see what we can pull, HGVC has excellent trading power and most people don't have a problem getting what they request.

Overall, it works pretty well. The biggest complaint seems to be with people that are used to trading w/ RCI with their personal account and get "upgraded" trades: a 2BR for a 1BR deposit, for example. With the corporate account, a 2BR in red season will "cost" the same number of HGVC points no matter if it is an easy or hard trade.

So far, I have had no complaints with using the HGVC corporate RCI account for my trades, but I have only made a couple.

So does this mean that I have to have another RCI account for my DVC points too? I already have a weeks account with my old timeshares and an RCi points account too. Can't use my DVC with these? This is getting to be a full time job.

Since I don't own DVC, I can't answer that directly. But if it works like it does w/ HGVC (which I think it does), you do not have a second RCI account. All RCI trades w/ your DVC points would be done directly through DVC, most likely by calling in. You would be using DVC's corporate account, indirectly. I know w/ our HGVC points, we cannot mix them w/ a personal RCI weeks or points account.

I'm sure a DVC member would be able to verify exactly how it works.

Yes, but you don't have any direct access to it. DVC is entirely separate, and you can only interact with RCI through DVC Member Services.

          At least it's "free".

Well I think I'll probably just keep my DVC points in DVC and forget about giving them to RCI for now. At least until they work out the kinks. I don't want any of my points lost in RCi abyss with their new changeover.
I'll just have to wait for my points for next years weeks and credits to do any exchanging. I've already borrowed most of my points from next year already this year. I always seem to be one year ahead of myself and thus end up using extra vacations or last calls. What a problem, huh?
