I just found out that the builder discount for buying at the Grand Californian is greater than when I purchased three months ago. Any thoughts ?

So what were the prices and what was the discount you got? And what is the new discount?"If a Nation expects to be ignorant and free in a state of civilization, it expects what never was and never will be.... If we are to guard against ignorance and remain free, it is the responsibility of every American to be informed."

Here are the current prices:

I'm a little surprised that VGC is not selling as well as was expected---right now, it's the lowest-priced property, lower even that Saratga Springs. True the rooms are very "pointy", but this property is so small, and the West Coast fanbase so large, that I didn't think they'd have any trouble at all.
As to your specific situation, I'm pretty sure Mickey isn't going to be giving any of your money back. You can write a letter to complain, and you might get something out of it. But, assuming you're past your recission date, the contract is yours to keep at the price you agreed to.

Tim Krasniewski really does a fantastic job with that site.. If you are a DVC fan and don't have that one on your list, you should..my travel website: Vacation-Times.org.

We have seen the outside of the units when at DCalifornia Adventure.....talk about a theme park view.....Mulholland Madness practically rides into the units.
We have been tempted to take a tour to see what they are like...very low pressure touts throughout both parks and Downtown Disney. Are there any premiums for touring or for referrals?"If a Nation expects to be ignorant and free in a state of civilization, it expects what never was and never will be.... i believe the following holds true for GC- first sales (jan. 2009) - builder discounts were $6, we bought at $16 (April) builder discount , current discount for add-ons $24 , new members have a greater discount ?
Sales management team is silent on sales progress.
I still believe this is a good deal but there are no promises that discounts could get better.
With no closing cost, you can't do better on the secondary market. We have toured, prime location and nice units
Any words of wisdom ?
thanks

The economy is really bad. I saw on the news last night there are condos in the Miami area that were selling for over $500 K 2 years ago are now selling in the $ 30 K range. So what are timeshares really worth I DUNNO

Buying nearly anything is like playing poker, you got to know not to show your hand. I have no experience with Disney, but if they are hungry enough, they will take an offer under consideration. If the offer is reasonable and they balk, then do the walk(but leave them your name and phone number). I did this with a car that I wanted, but stayed firm on my offer. I got that call a couple of weeks later and got the car at my price. I've also bought furniture at sale price when it wasn't on sale. If you wait for them to come down to what you think is a good deal, it probably won't happen. Good luck!
