  • Unit assignment at OKW

Question.....I received a Guest Certificate from RCI for OKW, and it has a unit assigned....28U. I'm unfamiliar with how RCI/Disney operates, regarding unit assignments.

Does anyone know if that is the unit that we will receive? And if so, does anyone know where it might be located?

If not, I would like the unit to be located as close as possible to the lobby, so I should call a couple of weeks in advance, right?

    Thanks for any info!

You really aren't assigned the unit by RCI. When you get to OKW, they will assign a unit to you based on whatever is available at that time. You can pick a unit.

Angela, just like with II - you can call the number and request the Magical Express, Disney Dinning Plan, groceries to the room, etc.
At that time, if u have a building preference/location, tell that cheerful cast member and they will note it on the reservation - it is certainly not guaranteed but better to have it then not.

I got the section at SSR I requested in April but that was also a lower demand time for visiting WDW.

Unit codes at DVC resorts usually encode the inventory pool the unit is drawn from, rather than a specific unit. Pools are described by unit size, check-in day, and (if applicable) view category.

OK, thanks everyone for the info. I appreciate it, and will do my best to get the location that we're hoping for.

Call ahead and make your request...

When we checked in at OKW, we requested a unit near the lobby and they were able to accommodate us in a unit across the street from the lobby. We were amazed, especially since we were checking in around 8PM on a Saturday!

Calling ahead and making a request would be the ideal thing to do.

I've not had a problem getting a room request honored at OKW and SSR. Now BWV and BCV is another story. Maybe because they are smaller resorts

I'm checking in on Saturday and called this week and made a request. I'll let you know how it goes. Mine is an RCI exchange.

Oh, OK, that explains it, thanks.

This comes in really handy at AKV---you can tell the difference between Standard and Savannah view units from the unit code. You still have to call for the 1BRs and ask the rep to tell you how many bathrooms there are. This tells you the difference between Kidani units (with the 2nd bath and sleeper chair) and Jambo (without those things). My family of four can make do in the Kidani 1BRs in a pinch, though the 2BRs just fit better.

Just got back from the 1 bedroom in Kidani on Sunday and the room was surprisingly comfortable. The full second bathroom was great and the big couch bed surprisingly comfortable though it was firm. It didn't have any springs in it like cheap sleepers do. Also the chair was probably best used by a child.

Ang, with DVC you can call now - even 6 -10 months ahead - they use the resie code on the exchange - not the RCI one - and generally they honor the requests that are dated the earliest.

It is not like Marriott where they only get the exchanges name 7 days before check-in.
