  • Getting to W57th from Long Island

We thought we were going to take a bus from Boston to Manhattan. Now things have changed and we're going to leave our car at my mother's house in Syosset and take the LIRR to NYC, then the subway to W57th. Can anyone tell me the best place to get off the train? Jamaica? Hunter Station? What subway line?

Suggestions will be most appreciated. I haven't been on a New York subway in nearly 40 years and on the LIRR, even longer.

    Thanks,
    Sue

LIRR to Penn Station ( W 34 ST ) A or C to W 59. You'll connect right inside Penn for any of those. So when are you in???

The 1 and 2 (7th ave side) or C or A (eight avenue side) trains stop at 59th Street/Columbus Circle (If you are taking the C or A line, don't take the E - that goes to Queens before it gets to Columbus Circle). You can take either line, both are inside Penn Station. I usually take whichever is closer to where I exit the train from the island. You should be able to walk down to 57th from there. Where on 57th do you need to be?
