  • Bummer....Hilton Honors has devalued their points rewards again

I hate when they do this....now it costs more points for hotel stays and VIP rewards.

The Hilton Hawaiian Village and Hilton Waikoloa Village ALON reward has gone from 175k for six nights to 225k for six nights.

This was discussed pretty heavily last month over at TUG. Hilton did announce it back in November, I think, and gave their members until January 15th before the new point structure took effect. I took that opportunity and snagged a reservation for Jackson Hole, WY at a Homewood Suites for this June so I got it for the old point structure.

It is a bummer, but this was the first devaluation in over 8 years. By the nature of inflation, one shouldn't be surprised that they have to re-value every once in a while -- every major hotel loyalty club does this.

Yeah I did get notice of it back then too....just forgot to post about it. I did not have any dates I could lock down to grab something. Bums me out.

Inflation....what inflation? We practically have deflation now.

Are you saying that there has been no inflation in the past 8 years?

No....not saying that. Just making the point that we have been going in reverse for about two years. Just some great timing to devalue points now based on inflation.

Don't worry hyperinflation could be right around the corner.....

It is disappointing that Hilton has devalued HHonors points. But at least they gave us plenty of advance notice.

Also, unlike other hotel chains, a few years ago Hilton actually increased the number of points they give you for converting a Hilton timeshare to HHonors points. It would be nice if they would do that again now...but at least they did it once.
