Anyone have a link to the current HGVC point charts ? Thought I'd read that there were some differences between the Orlando resorts, and that Hawaii was higher as well but all I can find is a link to a sticky on TUG that shows everywhere being the same.

    Thanks,

    Chris

The sellers on ebay don't care if it gets ROFR'd as they get paid either way, it's kind of a complicated transaction involving some shananigans but I think the buyers probably don't know it will get ROFR'd because sometimes the monkey is asleep at the switch and a deal goes thru. You just never know so people keep trying.

That's the one I have seen before, and perhaps I misread another thread, but I thought someone posted that there are different point requirements at some of the different (ie newer) resorts and that's what I was trying to find.

Enjoy the rest of your trip and thanks,

          Chris

            Try this then.

It's got the owners guide online but it's a bit hard to read with my netbook.

Thanks, I'm still here for 2 more days. We're gonna see if we can get a balloon ride but the weather hasn't been cooperating much. Got to eat at Sanaa today on a last minute ressie. I just love AKV. Now my friends want to stay there for F & W. Finally some converts.

Spent quite a bit of time either looking at HGVC (or thinking about it ) this weekend and had a few other questions.

Looks like we'd always be going in the Platinum season - either Spring Break or summer. Although we're only a family of 4, I'm looking at getting enough points for a 2BR for our trips so it looks like 7000 pts at most places. Have looked at various sites to get a gauge as to what these are going for resale and prices are all over the board and most of the listings I've seen tend to be in the 3500 or 5000 pt variety. Am going to call one of the better known resale brokers either today or tomorrow (don't want to post his name in case that's a no-no here) to get a better idea, but curious as to where you guys think the market is.

Since the weekends seem to cost so much more than weekday - not to mention that 3 days are considered weekend days, I was wondering how many of you pay cash for part of your stay to either save points or deal with being short points ? This relates primarily to Hawaii as 7000 pts seems to be plenty for all of the places in the continental US and Canada, but a tad short depending on which of the Hawaiian resorts you choose.

Also, was looking at the affiliates and the Fiesta resorts look nice, was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on those. Or, would I be able able to get something better exchanging HGVC via RCI (or SFX which I know nothing about) for a trip to either Mexico or the Caribbean ? And if that is better, how far out do I need to be planning ?

Thanks, and sorry for asking so many questions in one post,

                      Chris

See post #16 in this thread for the latest ROFR - http://www.timeshareforums.com/forum...-months-2.html. I won't pay more than $1.50 per point for 7000 annual HGVC points in Orlando or Vegas. Gold points are much cheaper at < $1 per point.

Two popular HGVC resale brokers are Judi Kozlowski (hgvc@timeshareresalepros.com) and Seth Nock (sethnock@sellingtimeshares.net)

Keep in mind these are asking prices. Tell them what you're looking for.

Just keep in mind that HGVC open season rates for cash is only allowed 30 days before check-in.
You can also get cash rentals at the HGVC developed resorts in Orlando, Vegas and Hawaii via Hilton.com

Also, was looking at the affiliates and the Fiesta resorts look nice, was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on those. You will need to determine what is acceptable for you in terms of the type of timeshare stay you're looking for and what is important to you. For example amenities, location, etc.

You might be able to get something better with RCI and/or SFX. I suggest that you always do some research first based on where you want to go (i.e. Cancun, Aruba, Cozumel, Grand Cayman, etc) to see what is available at each location then make your determination based on TUG, TS4M, Tripadvisor reviews and which exchange company is known to have availability during the time period you need to travel.

How far out you need to make your request will vary based on supply and demand at each location but the best advice would be to make your request as early as possible. I also suggest searching the sighting boards to see what has been sighted in the past and how far in advance of check-in was it sighted.

Here's the link to the TUG rankings for Mexico & the Caribbean
