  • Hilton Honors Gold changes

I got notice that a new benefit for HH Gold members is no blackout dates for reward and paid stays.

I think this is great news for Gold Members

I also got notice form AMEX, if I spend $20K a year on my HHonors Amex, I will automatically be gold.

I can't wait to stay at the Grand Wailea in Maui and having no blackout dates makes it much easier.

It's about time one of the loyalty cards, makes changes for the better.

Yeah I got the same good news.

Enjoy HHonors Hotel Rewards without Blackout Dates: Effective May 1, 2006, Gold VIP members may redeem points for HHonors hotel rewards nearly any time, with the only exception being during specified Extraordinary Demand Dates at certain hotels. To make reservations for your reward stays, please contact
    1-800-HHONORS (1-800-446-6677).

Upgraded Accommodations/Amenities: HHonors Gold VIP members are offered upgraded accommodations or amenities at Hilton Family hotels. The type of upgraded accommodation or amenity varies by type of hotel, as follows:
"If a Nation expects to be ignorant and free in a state of civilization, it expects what never was and never will be.... If we are to guard against ignorance and remain free, it is the responsibility of every American to be informed."

Starting June 1st, many of the Hiltons are changing categories. 99% of them up.
        Its sort of a devaluation.
however most of the ones I'm likely to stay at are already Cat 5 or 6. So it doesn't matter too much.

Also, in case you didn't know. If you have the HHonor Amex, they have a special reward. I forget the name for it. Anyway its any Cat 5 or 6 for 4 nights for 125K points.

Maui will at least be part of the Glon program. 175K for 6 nights in a Cat 6
