  • HGVC to DVC: Please advise

    Hi guys,

I'm new to this whole hting and I was hoping someone could help me. Details of my planned trip are:

    July 10-17, 2011
Trading from HGVC to DVC via RCI.

I have an ongoing search in RCI right now for ANY DVC vacancy for the week above. I'm hoping that someone can estimate my chance of a successfull trade, considering that my request was made 13 months in advance of my trip. Are there certain times when DVC deposits points? If I AM going to be successful, when do you think I will hear back from RCI? At what point should I give up, move on, and just book a non-Disney location at one of my HGVC sites?

What resort are you trying to get in DVC?
Disney seems to deposit in drips and drabs every month.

When you have more posts here you can see the Disney deposits.

I'm *hoping* for Animal Kingdom Lodge, but I currently have my ongoing search set up to trigger on availability from any of the resorts.

What week/resort/size unit did you deposit? It takes a pretty strong trader to pull some of the Disneys and a very strong one to pull them all.

With HGVC, you don't "deposit" a week. Instead, HGVC owners use Hilton's corporate RCI account and we "pay" for a week with our HGVC points. All HGVC owners use the same corporate RCI account, so we all see exactly the same RCI inventory, no matter what actual property we own.

It has been reported that HGVC is a very stong trader, in that we see most all deposits that a stong trader in an individual account would see.

Also, it is my understanding that Ongoing Searches are given on a first-come, first-served basis, as long as your trade is strong enough. Therefore, all "qualified" trades are given preference in order of Search initiation without regard to relative strength.

I mentioned this in your other thread, but it's usually a good idea to be flexible either in the resort you'd accept, or the dates you can travel. For AKV, you should at least consider accepting a check-in any day that weekend, and I'd broaden the search to cover other resorts if you are also hoping for a 2BR.

Disney deposits between 5-11 months in advance, in dribs and drabs. The bulk of them are between 6 and 8, and there's another small bump right at 11.
