  • Hilton Grand Vacations Adds Resorts in Waikiki and Myrtle Beach

I've seen this elsewhere but not here yet..

.............Hilton Grand Vacations has acquired the Ohana Islander Waikiki Hotel, a 143-room anchor resort in the famed Waikiki Beach Walk, Outrigger's eight acre commercial development. Hilton will begin extensive renovations starting immediately to convert the resort to timeshare villas. Currently, the projected opening is scheduled for the summer of 2013 with sales beginning in the summer of 2012. The agreement calls for Hilton Grand Vacations to control the timeshare marketing and control of the homeowners' association. Outrigger will get maintain rights to the on-site property management.

This announcement follows the news of HGVC's first resort to be located in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Hilton Grand Vacations Club at Anderson Ocean Club is similar to the Waikiki project in that it is another joint venture. Hilton Grand Vacations LLC will manage the sales and marketing of the timeshare intervals and will control the timeshare homeowners' association and loan servicing. Oceana Resorts, a Strand Capital Group company, will provide onsite property management services.

Located in the heart of the Grand Strand and overlooking a gorgeous stretch of beach, Hilton Grand Vacations Club at Anderson Ocean Club will offer upscale oceanview and oceanfront villas. Timeshare sales are scheduled to begin immediately......

Myrtle Beach I have some interest in......if I can ever find reasonable airfare from here to there. A couple of years ago we had signed a contract to buy at the new Marriott in Myrtle Beach but, when I checked, airfare to get there was in the $500 range and that was just to much for us. Not needing an additional week to exchange and, having a few extra bills pop up at home, we decided that money was better spent somewhere else. Since HGVC is adding a property in Myrtle Beach, I'm really glad we rescinded the Marriott purchase.

The new property in Waikiki doesn't excite me at all. I have no intention of traveling such a long distance and paying so much in airfare to stay at a resort that's a couple of blocks off the beach. If I want a city experience I'll go to NYC or LV. It's much easier to get to either of those destinations and a lot less expensive on airfare. What I'm wondering is, with HHV just a couple of blocks up down the street, will there really be that much interest in this new property?

Here is another story about it. Lewers Street and the Waikiki Beach Walk is where the action is. We love Honolulu for a few days so tag it on to our Maui vacations.

That is great news about the new TS at Waikiki Beachwalk. We were there at the Wyndham Waikiki Beachwalk last month for a week as well as a week in April 2010. That will give us another option when exchanging or renting to Waikiki. It is a great location. Unfortunately there are not many TS timeshares in that area. Our only choice is the Wyndham which has a great location but is so so as a resort. The Hilton Hawaiian Village does not appeal to us and the only other TS resorts are not the greatest.

I have no interest in a timeshare, but I just received a call from Hilton Grand Vacation offering me a 3-night 4-day stay at Myrtle Beach, Orlando, Vegas or (somewhere in) Hawaii for $149. In exchange, my wife and I have to listen to a 2 hour pitch (I assume for time shares).

I may take them up on this, I just wanted to make sure it was on the up and up and not one of those scam-cation companies.

Yes, this is a legitimate offer. You will be required to attend the sales pitch (allow 2-4 hours, even if they say it will only be 90 minutes), but there is no obligation to buy. If you don't mind the hard sales pitch, go for it -- you get to stay at a nice place for not much $$.

I get these offers every week from Hilton. It is probably because I am an HH member. I have no interest in them.
