  • HGVC Cost per point resale

I looking at purchasing HGVC resale. The going rate seems to be around $2/pt (at least for Vegas and Orlando)

    Is this accurate?

Does anyone have any information on HGVC ROFR--is there a rule-of-thumb about that?

    Thanks

NO. it is more complicated than that.

For platinum points in LV or Orlando $2.00/pt is about right.
But for gold points, you can normally find them around $1.50 /pt
And for silver, you can sometime find them for as low as $1.00/pt

Also you need to keep in mind that a 2 bd in all seasons have the same maintenance fee (MFs). So, a 2 bd in Platinum is 7000 pts, gold 5000 pts & only 3400 pts in silver season will all pay the same MFs. Therefore the money you save by buying gold pts, you will have to pay later in higher MFs. Sometime the payback for buying platinum is as few as 5 years, sometime more than 15 years.

      Lately

I have noticed a much cheaper price around
25 cents per point, on HGVC Silver points at affiliated properties in Scotland and on Marco Island, FL recently.

Keep in mind the maintenance costs and the fact that there is a fee to Hilton to get the resorts in to the HGVC.

The 25 cent figures the cost of the payment to HGVC as the cost for the weeks on ebay were around $500 per week.

      $500 + $399 =$899 for 2 Bedroom Silver at 3500 Points = .2568571

Closing costs were not figured in as everyone pays them when buying (Usually).

I bought one of them and kicked myself for not buying the other.
I figure I can live with the silver weeks because I have flexibility in my vacation scheduling and I don't like crowds so traveling off season is OK with me (Not a Jetsetter obviously)

Thanks for the input. Based on my travel needs, and the length I plan to own, I most likely will go the platinum week route, but I will keep an eye out for those silver weeks too!

VV trader is right that the HGVC international points are much cheaper than the HGVC points in the US. They trade just like HGVC but are deeded in the UK. You may wish to check them out before buying here.
