  • Pleasant Surprise - Extra weeks!!

I just finished closing on another Sheraton Broadway Plantation unit. It was a purchase off ebay with usage starting in 2009. When I called to make a reservation for summer 09, I was pleasantly surprised to find out that I also inheritted two 2008 weeks that haven't been used yet! It looks like the previous owner had rolled over last years week (which I didn't know you could do that) along with their regular 2008 week. Since I'm not going to be able to use them I have to get them banked ASAP.

Obviously I didn't do my due diligence well enough but came out on the good! Great! Just what I needed, more weeks I can't use

Interesting, rolling over weeks! That would be something to explore further. So that means II will let you deposit two weeks from 2008 even though you own one week. Let us know how the depositing works out!

Well it looks like I was given some false info. I finally got my second SBP resort added to my II account and went to go deposit those 2008 weeks. Talking with the guide this morning, she said there was only 1 unused week in on my new SBP purchase, not two like the previous VC told me. I asked her to check but there is only 1. I guess that explains how I could have two unused weeks. I didn't think SBP allowed you to roll over coverage from a previous year.

Anyway, I was still able to have them put a previously spacebanked May week into my account. (as always, thanks to Grayfal for having taught me how to do this). If I had tried to deposit something from now until the end of the floating period, it would have been considered a late deposit only usable during flexchange. One free week is still better than nothing!

As a side note, the Starwood VC I talked with this morning didn't really give me any grief on what I wanted, maybe because I explained it well from having done it before? She asked me for order preference of previously banked weeks so I said, Jul-Aug or May-Jun. She then put me on hold to talk to the department that does those things as opposed to having me wait the regular 72 hours. A few moments later, it was done and I got a week 21 in my account.

I really think that if u are knowledgeable, you will not have a problem.

The May week should trade great!
And just in time for the Harborside Fall 09 deposits - any day now!

Thanks for the update. I hope to have a similar scenario soon if my week at the same resort closes soon (4 months and counting....). Do I just call up Owner Services and ask for a spacebanked week to be deposited from 2008? Is there a certain way to ask to be assured of being treated nicely?

              My Sheraton Broadway Plantation

I have almost the same scenario, except now I have some questions.

After just 6 months and 3 days, my purchase is complete and registered with II . I just called Starwood and they also deposited a week 21 from 2008! It immediately showed up in my II account, even though the agent told me that it would take 72 hours. The agent also told me that my purchased week that floats 9-43, 47 is considered a Gold Plus week and not a Platinum week, and that they could not deposit a "Platinum" week for me. Does that mean that if for some reason in the future we requested that a 2 bedroom Platinum at a different resort be deposited, it would not be Platinum?

Anyhow, I am excited to see a 2 bedroom deposit in II! Fun fun fun!

My undeposited 2009 week shows up as available, and lists the fixed week number 24 that is on my purchase contract, even though it floats. Is that normal? I have reserved a July 4 week for 2009, so was hoping that it would be easy to deposit should the time come.

Thanks for any help. I am a trading newbie having to learn the ropes more quickly now!
