OMG.....I just called Sheraton, armed with all my newly acquired information. I was totally prepared to get the best possible deal, and was told that I could not make a reservation until 12 months out....
The person I purchased the week from told me that I would be entitled to reserve my deeded week, even though it is not a fixed week 24 months out. Any other week in the season, I would need to reserve the 12 months out.
Sheraton just told me...not so, it's 12 months out. So, if I want week 26, I need to call June 30....they open at 8AM.
I am a little confused because I have also read about this 24 month out reservation to deeded weeks at BP, not fixed, somewhere along the way.
Oh well, at least I will be prepared when the time comes.
Thanks again for all the help....Angela

Update...I spoke with the people that I purchased my BP week from, after my conversation with Sheraton.
They claim that Sheraton purchased BP from Embassy. So, Sheraton needed to abide by some of the criteria set by Embassy, it was part of deal.
According to seller, her original contract stated that any floating week had the right to reserve their deed week 24 months in advance of check-in.
This is so bizare to me...I don't know who to believe, or, if it really even matters.
I haven't received my contract yet, so I don't have a clue what that will say.
Anyway, at this point, I am exhausted with all the phone calls back and forth, and getting no where.....Angela

That's so weird. I had never heard of that 24 month thing before, but it sounded good! The way my Harborside week works is that I have from 12-10 months prior to confirm my deeded week. If I haven't confirmed it by 10 months, then it begins to float. Not a very efficient system, but it does allow for locking in the deeded week if you want it.
FYI, in this thread:
http://www.timeshareforums.com/showthread.php?t=8582
Mark from SFX talks about making some exceptions for newly purchased weeks. This might work for you, too. It really seems like SFX bends over backwards to accommodate their customers. I really like that in an exchange company! I upgraded to platinum SFX today, because I think I'll be using them alot. (I'm buying/learning Marriott just like you're buying/learning Starwood).~Arlene

Angela,
Stop stressing. You bought a good week. You will be happy with it. If you have to make a reservation 12 months out, and so does everybody else, where's the downside? Relax and Enjoy...

Arlene,
"That's so weird. I had never heard of that 24 month thing before, but it sounded good!"
hahahaha, I had to laugh.... Evidently, Sheraton hasn't either. And yea, it sounded too good. But, what do I know. At this point, I think my week works the same as yours. We are given that 12-10 month period to reserve our deeded week. I think that should work out OK.
It really does look like SFX may be a great company. So far, I am impressed with what I am seeing, and learning about them. I am definitely going to deposit this week with them, once I am able to get a reservation.
It is a little challaging learning the different systems. There seems to be much mis-information out there. Sometimes, even the salespeople are mis-informed.
It is such a help to get good information, and tips from you guys. It has made my life so much easier, and I do appreciate it. If you need any help with Marriott, Pat is a really good source. She gave me lots of very helpful information, and tips. So is Avery. I am sure they can answer any questions you may have.
Congrats on your new Marriott week. I think you will love Marriott, I do. And thanks again for all the advise.....Angela

What had me so frustrated was just having the incorrect information, and not knowing if what I was being told by Sheraton was true.
I am excited about our new week, and am looking forward to trying SFX. I think it will work out well.
Thanks again for all the help, it really made things easier. After today, I feel like I need a vacation more than ever......Angela

I have been very pleased with SFX though I have only been a member for a short time. As with any exchange company, if you are flexible and have realistic expectations after researching what is a likely positive outcome, you should be pleased as well. Personally, I really like their customer-oriented policies; very refreshing compared to the Big Two...

No, offense meant AT ALL, Angela. It's just hard to find salespeople that both know all there is to know AND are willing to share it with you. And there are oodles of people on these boards that have been badly burned, either through ignorance or deception on the part of salesfolks. So you just have to do your own due diligence to the best of your ability and be willing to risk the downside of what you can't be sure of. In your case, it's not bad! And believe me, if I were buying my first Starwood property, I'd be finding out lots of new stuff and learning from you, also probably after I bought it...

Believe me, I love to look for the humor in life. I would never be affended after all the help you gave me...... Nor, would I ever take this type of thing too seriously.
PS
I'm laughing at the situation again. You would think that after buying two Marriotts, knowing little to nothing about the system, I would have learned my lesson. Geez....maybe this time?Angela
