We are currently staying at the Coconut Plantation, with a view to potentially purchasing a timeshare.
The resort is midway through its room upgrades. Countertops, rugs and new sofas are all finished. Beds and bedding are next (good thing, since the bedspreads look old and tired). Electronics are also next in the queue. Reupholstering of the other furniture is delayed by a problem with the textile manufacturers in China.
We stayed our first night in the one bedroom suite (the smaller side of a two bedroom lockout). A very boring unit by itself -- much like staying in a hotel room, and a big disappointment.
We have switched for the second night to a two bedroom unit, which is much more luxurious and has the look and feel that we were expecting. Good layout, lots of room, nice screened balconies, luxury master bathroom.
The resort itself is in excellent condition, and the staff very accommodating. It's very family-oriented, however, and would be a difficult place to keep our adult children amused. Having the hotel on the adjacent property helps.
The sales rep indicated that she was out of diamond timeshares, and so would be exercising the ROFR on any that became available. We can''t tell if this was just talk, however, as she knew we were looking at the resale market.
All-in-all, an interesting visit....
