  • Where Have All the HGVCs Gone?

RCI: All of the HGVC resorts in SW FL disappeared during the disenhancement, and none of them have returned by my searching. The total number of exchanges in the next 24 months in SW FL for all resorts has been cut in half, from 600 m/l to under 300.

My most trusted source at RCI is unable to shed any light on this.

    Has HGVC disaffiliated with RCI?

HGVC is still with RCI. In fact, HGVC has now given their owners online access to seach RCI rather than having to call an associated to make an exchange. Sounds like this is just another great example of that great RCI customer service I've been hearing about.

On my last SW FL search, I did not see any HGVCs. Of course, over the last 12 years of daily searching I am accustomed to seeing several, those in bold almost always available for sometime:

      Ft. Myers Beach
      Seawatch on the Beach

      Captiva Island
The Cottages at South Seas Resort
Planatation Bay Villas at South Seas Resort
Plantation Beach Club at South Seas Resort
Plantation House at South Seas Resort
South Seas Club at South Seas Resort

      Marco Island
The Charter Club of Marco Beach
      Club Regency of Marco Island
      Eagle’s Nest Beach Resort
      The Surf Club Resort

      Sanibel Island
      Casa Ybel Resort
      Hurricane House Resort
      Sanibel Cottage Resort
      Shell Island Beach Club
      Tortuga Beach Club Resort

They were never plentiful but yes there were usually SOME even if just hurricane season. HGVC Miami has also become a very rare sighting in weeks but that was happening for quite some time prior to the "enhancement".

TUG has a fairly active HGVC forum. Sorry it is not the answer you wanted to hear, but that is the only one I am aware of.

I haven't heard from him in a long time. I'll drop him and email, and hope I don't send it to TugDave by mistake.

I meant TSDaveM . . . I useta sometimes send stuff to the wrong guy cuz their addies are so similar.

I sent one to CaliDave and it bounced, so I'm trying another address.

we don't have a good "chuckle evilly" emoticon....Dave has been around, albeit rarely.

Funny how we have our lists of specialists. Well maybe not everybody does but I know I do.

Are they mean over at TUG? I don't go there much.

I owe a huge debt to TUG. I learned a lot there. They are just a bit different than here. Not mean, just not as lenient as we are here.

Think of them as a kissing cousin. Many of the members are "dual affiliated", we have the specialists & ex-ops/sightings here and they have more members so a deeper well to plumb on things not timeshare there.

I wasn't going to delve into the disenfranchised and why we have the keynote specialists mostly because they have their quirks but bring meat to the table.

                          So noted.

TUG is a larger community and the rules are a little stricter over there. If you break a rule you get told about it relatively quickly. There are times when I'm a little put off by some of their moderators but, moderating a forum is pretty much a thankless job anyway and I'm always glad that someone else does it. It's also a little more difficult when you have multiple moderators who might interpret the rules a little different from each of the other moderators.

It's not a bad place and I play over there about as much as I play over here. I just tend to watch my P's and Q's on TUG more than on TS4M's.
