  • Marriott/II trade question

I received the following email - I hope Kim tries to join again....

Hi Pat! I saw your posts but wasn't able to become a member....wanted to get your opinion on something!
I purchased Marriott Breckenridge Silver season and am trying to trade through II for Marriott Myrtle beach for June July or Sept.
I only put my request in this February, so am not to optimistic! In the meantime, I have put in a request for the same months in 2011.....WHat do you think my chances are going from Marriott to Marriott? Is there a degree of trading power? Or are all Marriott's equal? Any tips?
    Thanks
    Kimberly

Hi Kimberly and Welcome to 4Ms

Marriott trades are generally like for like - but with the Marriott preference in place, I often hear of people 'trading up'.
I am assuming that you are using a 2BR to trade into this resort of all 2 and 3BR units. And something else that affects your trade power is how far in advance u deposited your week - the closer to the one year mark, the better the trading power.

This can happens two ways - far in advance - which could happen with your request for Sept 2011.
You have the advantage of having your request in waaaay ahead of everyone else.
The second way is within 60 days of check-in. At that time, most trade restrictions are lifted but the Marriott preference is still in place.
Only other Marriott weeks can trade into a Marriott week for the first 24 days - but even so you must have the 'power' - and it is a big jump up from silver to platinum.
If you can widen your search and say push it into October, this would also help.
    Pat

    Tough tough trade IMO!

Marriott's Mountain Valley Lodge only has studio and 1BR units. Personally, I think September is possible, and maybe even early June, but doubtful. I don't think getting a 2BR unit during July will be possible outside of flexchange using the unit she owns.

Here is the demand index at Mountain Valley Lodge. Notice the silver season demand is virtually nonexistent?

Here is the demand index at Oceanwatch. Notice that the demand during the summer is very high?

Mud season in Colorado isn't very attractive, is it?

One of our members owns(ed?) a bronze Mar Park City and used it strictly to trade in the 60 day flexchange - that is where this studio or 1BR silver week would best be used.
