    I started this to get some more discussion here. There is too much confusion OY.

    It's crazy over there. If you don't keep up with the thread then you've got 10 pages to catch up on every hour it seems. I finally gave up on it. It's so much energy invested in one weeks worth of your year. I think they're taking this way too seriously.
    Marriott must love all the buzz.

      They just don't get it!

      I think Marriott really has lost their direction on this one. This is a PR nightmare.

      They have really in my mind damaged their brand. Let me explain.

      I say this because, as you know we live in a very transparent world. Word of mouth is PLATINUM in the Marketing world. Marriott spends millions on marketing these schemes. One search on Google and a new prospect ends up here, where we have the TRUTH behind their smoke and mirrors. All of those millions are now wasted, down the drain! poof! Because we tell them to rescind immediately. Yes some do get past the net, but as time goes on that will diminish as more and more people continue to get savvy on the net. Just about every other person now has a smart phone. If not a smart phone, then a notebook or a desktop.


      We are the word of mouth. Already we have done damage to all of these TS Marketing schemes by the Big Developers. Our Word of Mouth, compounded by the weak economy has put a real squash on the Starwoods, and Marriotts of the TS sales world.

      As more and more people find out the TRUTH behind their Marketing schemes there millions in Marketing will continue to be worthless.

      The people at the call centers don't know a damn thing about this new system. I can tell them more just by reading. I called yesterday and one advisor kept repeating points in every other word. I wanted to correct her, but she was like a recording.

      Marriott has no integrity in the TS sales world. They have permanently damaged their brand.

      Sorry for lecturing but I had to get that off my chest. OY it will get lost.

      I really like the Marriott experience, and product. But there does seem to be a dark current in their Corporate Mindset. I wish they would just leave things unchanged. I did not tell Marriott to overbuild.

        Pretty soon they'll just block TUG and TS4M's from their resorts internet. I was at a resort a few years ago and could not log onto any TS forums.
        Coincidence? Seemed like some kind of block. I had to go to google and use a link from google to get to the forums. Can't remember the resort but thought it odd at the time.

          Where do they think we are living in Communist China. That is plausible, but just plain STUPID!

          Something like that really spells "STAY AWAY FROM MY RESORT" we are "CENSORS'.

            Humans are social animals and tend to congregate where 'the group' is. For years, with Marriott, that's been OY. Other than the crossover bunch, and independent thinkers, I doubt that will change. That disparity does give this forum an opportunity to boil down and create a synopsis of the process.

            Here's something, to me, worth discussing in more detail, which I had posted in the SFX Marriott thread here:

            Don't know whether it's been covered elsewhere, but the scuttlebut is that the Marriott points accounts on II will be 'basic' accounts without online search ability. Just like with SFX, you will have to call in and look for something with a phone CSR or put in a request. In order to see things online or place online requests, one will have to maintain a separate, paid II account to facilitate online functionality.

            We can, instead of trying to take on the whole elephant, look at specific nuances and examine their relevance and importance.

            I read, from a DVC owner, that when DVC was affiliated with II, their account was a corporate account and members called in to make reservations and had no online functionality on II. Is that true? Is it relevant to what Marriott is doing now? Is it a sign of a future trend? How does it impact Marriott owners. Just one nuance of many.

            To the extent that Marriott's new system impairs or affects my ability to utilize the units I paid a pretty penny to the developer for, you can bet I'll be looking for any holes in their timeshare *and* hotel system to take a jab at them. I've been successful in the past, especially in the hotel system, but now have more time to play with them on the timeshare front. Let's take advantage of this new 'system'

              I read that Disney may be getting involved and start using Marriott's inventory but it will be governed by their rules (Disney's) of reservation window. Is their window better than ours? Is that a way for II to get some inventory back from RCI?

              I have a feeling that all hotel brands evenvtually will use each other's inventories so people do not have to deal with RCI or II again but behind the scenes they do.

              PS. I have to strike this whole erroneous post as I do not want to start more rumors. It must have been wishful thinking when I read this post here. The answer was in the following post and I found the information too in the official document.

                  I am not inserting any humor or cynical comments tonight. I am just looking for clear cut answers. I am posting in existing threads.

                  I got some traction in that survey thread only to find out he had made up his own rules on the fly. I had a good dialog going with another poster.

                    I also think that survey thread should be a poll, but that would give more visibility to how many people are saying they won't join. Not sure why we can't have a simple poll.

                        I have not even ventured OY to read the thread - I almost dread doing so.
                        Not because I don't like OY - I do - this whole situation is just overwhelming at this point.

                        To screw your current owners is so anti-productive. I keep going back to my Grande Vista ownership - Marriott will give me 2775 for my Platinum week and it will take 4200+ to reserve there - how is this equitable.

                        I am very disappointed with Marriott.

                            Nice to see you here, dioxide. What is your feeling about this new plan?

                            I see it as a complete power grab by the Marriott. They want complete control over the inventory. I never expected that they would turn their back on us but they are after a different group of people now who are younger and have a higher standard of living than we have here in the USA.

                            They may not even feel that the point package prices are high. They have a big inventory left at the MOC so they can sell a lot of points for quite awhile without running in trouble for not having reservations. JMHO, of course.

                            I tried to figure out today if I had enough points to get a 1 BR for one week and a studio for the week before or after on Maui but I don't have enough points so lost this capability what I had last year with II. I don't know if II will still have the inventory available.
