We have been Marrriott Vacation Club members for over 10 years now (one week, orlando Royal Palms, White season) and have always traded our week for points. Due to a miscommunication (my fault) this time last year, I unknowingly failed to purchase points, and our week for 2010 went unused. Marriott said that they can request a replacement week, but the week cannot be traded for points, but must be deposited and used thru II.
I know not one thing about II. The Marriott rep said that because it will be a late deposit we would be restricted to only request a trade 60 days or less before check-in, and that I may have a shorter replacement date.
My question: Do I have any chance in getting a decent accommodation considering this 60 day restriction and the trade power of my timeshare (I have no idea how desirable it is)? We have young children and can travel only during summer/school breaks.
Please forgive my ignorance, I have spent hours on various forums and am having a hard time finding the answers to my newbie questions. Thank you so much for any opinions or tips you knowledgeable folks could give!
