  • Sabal Palms VS Royal Palms.....

Anyone know out of these two resorts, which is closest to the convention center, and by how much? Also, any info on these two as well as Imperial Palms would be appreciated.

    Which would you choose?

    Thanks!

Literally just got back from Sabal. All three properties are on the Marriott World Center grounds, and they have an on site shuttle bus. By convention center to you mean Marriott's convention ctr, or the big Orange county convention ctr?

If it is the Marriott's at World Center, I don't know that it matters, but it would seem that Imperial and Royal are closer to the on-site cetner. Sabal is off by itself on the other side of the hotel.

Imperial is 3 br units, Royal 2 Br units, these two are right next to each other and really could be considered the same property. Sabal units are 2 Br. they have been redone from a few years ago and are quite nice. If you are looking for quiet - Sabal would be my choice, smaller clubhouse and nice quiet pool area with 2 spas. nice workout facility in the clubhouse. Tennis courts are right next to the Sabal parking lot, and all units have screened patios facing the golf course, except one building overlooks the pool area.

If you are talking about the Orange County convention center then you likely would want to stay at Cypress Harbour or Grande Vista as they are only a couple miles away. Harbour Lake is also right next to Cypress harbour.

      Thanks CMore for the info!

I was referring to the Marriott Convention Center.

I thought that I was going to book either Sabal or Royal Palms, because of it's closeness to Disney, and the shuttle. However, I wound up booking at Lakeshore Reserve.

I appreciate the info tho.....I'll get there one of these days. I love that it's so close to the parks!

I'm actually going to cancel my reservation at Lakeshore, and book Sabal Palms, if it's available.

My DD wants to join us....She's too young to rent a car, but too old to hang around with us.

Mears quoted me $15-$20 to take a cab to Disney from Sabal Palms, and $56.00 from Lakeshore.

        We'll do Lakeshore another time.

BTW, I sure miss Disney not being a member of II.

        Edited to add:

I was able to change the reservation to Sabal Palms, so that's were we'll be staying.

I think that you will like Sabal, they really did do a good job of upgrading the units a few years ago. Enjoy your stay. I don't know if there is a Disney shuttle available or not.

About the only other thing is on check in day if you are arriving late, you should call in advance to make sure the Sabal clubhouse is open to get your keys, etc. We arrived around midnight, and had to go back over to the Royal/Imperial clubhouse as I believe that is open 24/7. No big deal, but minorly irritating when you want to get to bed.

            Thanks for the info!

Check-in shouldn't be a problem as we are arriving late afternoon.

We will be renting a car, and DD will be taking cabs, when her and her friend are not with us. Mears taxi service charges between $10-$20 from Sabal to go to the Disney Parks, depending on the park.....The cost for a private taxi is about the same as the cost of the shuttle, without the wait. I was told that there are always cabs available at the parks, during park hours, and that it didn't pay to take the shuttle with 2 people.
