When do I phone to deposit my Week?

Hi there.

I'm a bit new to this game so apologies if this is a "dumb question".
To be honest I find the whole system very confusing and frustrating.

I've got a week at Royal Palms and want to deposit it with II to get the best value in exchange. I had a "lesson" a while ago and learned that I should phone up a year before the week I want to trade and there was mention of the check-in days being Fri Sat and Sun. and as I am in the UK I should phone at 2pm which is 9am in the US.

Assuming I want to get the best value, do I phone a year ahead of the Friday of the best demand week or can it be the Sat or Sun?

Can I do this on the net instead of phoning? Does the same timing apply?

As far as I know there are two main methods one is to "deposit first" meaning you have to give them your week first, this allows you 24 months to place a request, the other method is the "request first" which in essence allows you to keep your week until you find some inventory you desire, if there was nothing you'd like to exchage to and you have less that 60 days you can use the "flexchange" option which allows you to deposit your week 59 to 14 days before your resort week starts, and you can request from 59 days to 24 hrs before your travel date.

Rule here as in any other exchange company is the earlier you book the better and they also prefer that you provide them with your week first so that you can choose from what they have available.

Almost right Chris!

Example.....you want to reserve Sunday July 15, 2012.
As you said, the resort has Friday,Saturday,Sunday check-in days.

So to reserve for Friday, July 13; Saturday, July 14 & Sunday July 15 you call one year ahead of the FIRST check-in date - July 13, 2011 which is a WEDNESDAY (2012 is a leap year). The inventory for all 3 check-in days is released on the same day.

To reserve Saturday July 13, 2013 (or July 12 & 14, 2013) - you call on Thursday July 12, 2012.

Do not let Marriott tell you it does not matter what date(week) you deposit - it does! but it doesn't matter what day of the week - II does not give better trade power for a Sunday check-in versus a Friday.

And yes, you can do it on the internet on the Marriott owner website - generally what I do is to be trying to get it online as well as call....the internet is not always dependable/working.....much improvement needs to be made to the owner website.

It is probably easiest to just use the new call in calendars that were developed by MVCI.

1. Log in to my-vacationclub.com
2. Click on Plan and Book My Vacation
3. Click on Inventory Release Calendars

Then in this section:

To determine when vacations are available to reserve at your home resort, locate and click on the resort where you own and would like to make your reservation from this page.

Click on the "this page" link. It is easy to miss.

Click on your resort to view when inventory is released for each check in day. Once you have a reservation, call II or go online at IntervalWorld and deposit the week.
