  • Desert Springs Villas II - New Photo Album

I still need to add a few photo's of some of the other pools and amenities but, I have pics up of a two bedroom lock-out unit and some of the rest of the resort.

The album is at Desert Springs Villa's II March, 2012 - dougp26364's Photos

I'll probably be adding a few more photo's over the rest of this week through the weekend.

It looks great. I don't know if I am staying in I or II, but I am really looking forward to my summer stay.

Doug, your photos are outstanding. The weather looks beautiful with that blue sky. Is this the unit you stayed in? I don't believe that they have model units anymore as they must be sold out or am I wrong? If it is your unit, what number and building is it, if I may ask? You had a very nice view from this unit if it was yours.

Did you enjoy the resort and the area too? I know that your wife did.

We are heading back to Palm Desert pretty soon as we really like the desert for a change from the ocean but we will miss the wild flowers this year. Did you see any? It is spectacular.

        Great pics! Thanks Doug!

If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

Were in 5305 in the Jasmine court section. So far, we haven't seen wildflowers. We'll be taking the Desert Adventures tours this morning so maybe today.

The pics are of our unit. The views are from our unit or just off the golf cart path with the exception of a few I've taken from the golf course. Let me tell you, you have to get up pretty early to beat the golfers to the golf course. They were on the hole by our unit right around 07:00 this morning.

Thank you for the unit number.

Go and see Joshua Tree National Park and do the Tramway too. You may have done both already. Enjoy your stay.

We took the Tramway yesterday. While it's something I feel everyone should do, we both felt that once in a lifetime was probably enough. Neither of us are really great hikers and the restaurants didn't look all that invititing so, it was essentially a $42.00 ride up a spectacular engineering marvel to get a fantastic view of the valley.

Today is our last day. We'll probably head out to Joshua Tree NP today depending on how we feel. We could just as well lounge around the resort, relax and recharge our batteries before heading back home to 60 hour work weeks.

I expect that the desert wildflowers will be pretty poor this year because of our lack of rain. We go every year to Anza Borrego Desert State Park to see the flowers but will pass on it this year.

Those photos sure make me want to visit the area - maybe one of these years I'll be able to squeeze it in...

We are at the Marriott Desert Springs Villas II at the moment and are in Building 475, unit 2817. Our condo hasn't been refurbished yet but they are working their way down from building to building. Our 1 BR condo is clean and comfortable with a beautiful view so we are happy.

View is more important to us than everything brand new but this condo needs refurbishing and I heard this from another couple too who were sitting next to us at the wine and cheese tasting get-together.

So far, building 900, 800 and 700 have been refurbished and condo #655 and 673 in building 600.

They are also redoing the clubhouse where the front desk is but check-in was no problem here at all. It took us much longer at the Newport Coast Villas a week or so ago as our condo wasn't ready but here it was ready before 4 PM.

I wasn't aware that there are two different refurbishments. One is a hard one and the other is a soft one.

I had posted OY that all buildings in the DSV-I had been refurbished but that was only half true, I found out. The hard refurbishment has been completed in Phase I like new tiles on the floors and on bathroom walls. Also, new bathtubs that are no longer the Jacuzzi type like they used to have. Also new cabinets in the bathrooms and kitchen and granite counter tops.

We stayed in a refurbished unit last June and I thought that the lock-off unit looked like brand new to me but they just started working on the soft refurbishment of the DSV-I condos now and have completed building A only so far. Next building is J and so on. I also found out that the condos will be very different in look and color scheme from each other in Phase I and II. A soft refurbishment means replacing carpets, decor, paint and furniture. I heard all this from the Front Office Manager as he helped us when we came to the front desk one morning.

Also, this resort was voted #1 of all Marriott resorts this year and they are very proud of it and I agree that everyone is doing their best and is very friendly with a smile on their face.

I can't say this about Trader Joe's here as we have noticed this a second year on a row. Very different from our local Trader Joe's at home or even the one in Newport Beach.

It is very hot so we are very lazy but I hope to go to Joshua Tree NP before we go home. We heard that this is normal temperature for this time of the year.

I have a new program to play with so I am not bored at all while looking at the beautiful view and it is cool inside the condo.

I will post a few pictures later of our view.
