  • adding one extra night OOP - WOW the Cost!!! Anyone with ideas to save $$$$

I have a Sat-Sat 2BR at Marriott Harbor Lake via getaway at II. Entire week only cost about $425. What a bargain.

We decided to go on Friday instead, so I went to add an OOP ressie direct with Marriott for the Friday night in a 2BR so they could link and we could stay in one room the entire time. WOW - $279 total cost of this night with AAA rate! Holy Cow!!

I can go to the Residence Inn next door and the 2BR is only $147 for the night with Free Breakfast. Definitely more cost effective. But, we are going early to have an extra day to play in Orlando - not to check in and out of hotels. It wouldn't be so bad if I knew Harbor Lake would have early check-in for us. But my history with Harbor Lake is they don't look "hard" to find you and early check-in. Depends who is at the counter.

    Any suggestions? Thoughts?

When we need to switch hotels like this, we just pack a separate small overnight bag with the clothing and toiletries we will all need for one night. Only the overnight bag goes into the one-night hotel. It makes it much easier to check out early in the morning and get on our way, leaving everything in the car. Then we go check into the timeshare in the late afternoon or whenever.

Would that work? Of course it wouldn't if you don't have a rental car....

Do you own a Marriott timeshare? If so, you should be able to use the MOD code to get a 25% discount.

If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

Did you get one of those II ACs ?
You could use it got s Thursday of Friday check in. Cost about $225.
Friend Mary did this for an Aruba unit. Much lower cost then renting one night. Crazy!

That is usually the best way. You can also trying calling the resort to ask if they have any promotional rates for owners, Interval International members, or sales promo tours (but you'll need to book a tour for the latter).

Thanks All - I was thinking about using one of my good for nothing ACs that I received when I purchased this getaway to begin with - that may work. Right now the grid that is attached to both of them will only show flex inventory, so I need to wait a few more weeks.

If all fails - then I'm just going to the Residence Inn next door and packing an overnight bag as suggested. And then just keep the rest of the stuff in the car. I'm just being cheap and a bit lazy I guess!

All well....guess it just goes to show us what a deal we can get via Getaways!

Are you planning on visiting Universal or a park located further away like Legoland? Or the Lake Worth area? I would make a cancellable reservation near the alternate location and then try a cheap Priceline bid as time nears.

You could book two value rooms at Disney and get free parking for 2 days(check in and check out days) included to the parks ($14 a day savings) plus a few of the Disney perks for being onsite.
Depending on when you go you can find a room sometimes for under $100.
