Need advice on Orlando Marriott TS property for August 2014 vacation

It has been a while since I've posted, but I sure do love this site! We are planning to spend the first week in August in Orlando. My husband and I will be will be travelling with two 12 year old girls and want to choose the best resort for them. Here is what we know:

Our vacation will be a combo of hanging at the pool and theme park hopping.

We have previously stayed at Harbour Lake, but feel like at 12 years old, they have outgrown this property.

We thought Cypress Harbour might be a good choice, but apparently the resort is under major refurbishment/construction (any insights into this?)

Remaining options: Lakesshore Reserve (is there enough to do at this beautiful property?) and Grande Vista (not wowed the last time we stayed there, but could be sold). Or is the construction at Cypress Harbour not worth making a change.

I'd love to hear from folks who have been to any of these properties!

Are you locked in to those two? I sent some friend to Sabal Palms last year, and they loved it. They're going back this summer, and I've booked a week there as well. The pool at the World Center was a big hit, and it's a short walk.

I was going to suggest one of the "Palms" as well - with the hotel pool including an indoor one if it rains and many restaurant choices, there should be enough to keep the girls busy.

I agree.....I'll be staying 1 week at the Royal & 2 weeks at the Sabal in a few weeks. The World Center has recently completely a multi-million dollar renovation, and the 3 new slides are now open....

I've stayed at Grande Vista twice last year.
They have remodeled the rooms and there were lots of teens there when we visited.
They have a recreation room for the kids, not sure of the ages and some pool and ping pong tables.
Didn't really pay much attention to what was there for tweens since we were all adults.
But the resort is very very nice, especially if you get a lakeview room.

The location is convenient to Sea World and not too far from Downtown Disney.
It was pretty easy to get a 3 bedroom exchange about 9 months out.

I also am a Grande Vista fan and feel it is a good choice for 12 year olds. They can feel they have some "freedom" on the property as there is plenty to do.
Can't beat the Orlando Marriott's.

I have an AC I want to use for Orlando this May. I will be going with a friend mostly for shopping and relaxing by the pool. Probably 1 day for Epcot. Lakeshore Reserve does not seem to be available so I thought I would go with Royal Palms. I want the most adult friendly resort. Any thoughts?

Since you have time, I would put a request in for Lakeshore reserve. This is permissible with an AC. When you get closer to your dates, I would take Royal or Sabal Palms. It is nice to have the hotel amenities.
