BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

Angela, I had to look up where Marco Island is and I must say that the beach looks very inviting. I have never seen such white sand. Is the water warm too? One of these days. I mentioned it to my DH and guess what he said? "No way am I go to FL!" Now what's that for an answer.

      Emmy,

I can understand your husband's point.......You have Hawaii, as well as many beautiful beaches in California.

The water is not warm all year long. I think it ranges from mid 60's in the winter....to mid 80's in the summer.

I like Marco Island, because it is fairly tropical, and has nice restaurants, and shops. Also, there are many activities to keep you occupied.......

I have the opposite view, actually. I live in Utah...much closer to California...but I prefer Florida's beaches. The beaches in California are pretty to look at, but the water is cold, the sand is tan, and they aren't very inviting for swimming.

The water temperature in the Atlantic and the Gulf in southern Florida in January is about the same as the water temperature in Southern California in July. The sand is much nicer, the water is a beautiful deep blue (southeast Florida) or green (southwest Florida). It's just much more inviting, IMHO.

I think Marriott will have tremendous success with a timeshare on Marco Island. Southwest Florida is very popular...and Marriott already has a very nice resort hotel on the island.

            Steve,

We were just reminiscing about Sanibel Island and SW Florida. We miss the calm ocean and just walking out of your timeshare onto the beach. Since moving West we have vacationed in So Cal, but just not the same

              Water Temperature In Hawaii

What is the water temperature in Hawaii during the summer (June - August)? I plan to go there someday but never gave it a thought about water temperature for snorkeling. I assumed the ocean temperature would be warm like it is in Florida and the Caribbean Islands.

              Thanks,
              Mike

                I don't think it is!

All I know is that it is too cold for us in March and April so we use a wetsuit in Hawaii. Can you imagine? I don't know what the temperatures are between June and August but we were there in September once and it was nice.

I hate cold water. That's why I loved the Sea of Cadiz in Spain when I lived there when I was young. I have lived in southern California since 1961 and have been in the ocean only twice. Once was when we had a heat wave in Malibu and Santa Monica and half the population was sleeping on the beach a few nights.

The other time was in Laguna Beach and the water was freezing. You have to be careful swimming in Laguna Beach because there can be a strong undertow. That is a well-known fact but they have lifeguards on duty.

Here is a picture of a very old Lifeguard Station from 1929 on the main beach. Hawaii is definitely warmer than the ocean in California.

Hmmmm....this is a case of the grass NOT being greener on the other side..oops! other coast!!!

I have always been jealous of those west coasters being able to jump over to Hawaii like we go to Aruba

......and I do enjoy southeast FL (Ocean Pointe).

LOL......I agree with Pat, I have always wished we were closer to Hawaii....But we do have the Caribbean at our finger tips, and Florida is a real easy, and inexpensive flight from NY.........

In fact, I think maybe we don't give Florida the credit it is due.

Besides Aruba, you have several islands and the Marriott is adding resorts as well as the Westin. However, the Hawaiian islands are very nice and our flight is only about five hours but the Caribbean islands are far away for us!

Marriott buying Marco Radisson for condos
Attorneys representing an investment trust have requested permission for resort to be converted to a condo building taller than Marco’s limit of 150 feet

The 233-room Radisson Suite Beach Resort on Marco Island has a new owner — Marriott Vacation Club International is buying it for $58 million.
I hate to burst anyones bubble but Marriott didn't permission to build the TS tower they wanted and may not continue with the project at all.

So, there may or may not be a new Marriott TS on Marco Island.

                            http://www.naples-daily-news.com/new...crease_height/

Things are looking better. While the city is only raising the height limit to 150 ft instead of the 175 ft Marriott wanted, it sounds like Marriott is okay with this...and I doubt if they will walk away from such a lucrative location...especially now that they own the land.

David Holton, Senior Vice President of MVCI, is quoted as saying that: "I'm pleased, and I think the community will be pleased with this decision."

At the end of the article, it further says that Holton stated MVCI would soon provide preliminary plans to the city.

                            Sounds like a go.
