  • How do you exchange into a Marriott?

Everyday, Angela posts all of these wonderful Marriott locations that are available for exchange.

    I am a non-II, non-Marriott owner.

My question is, how does someone like me get an exchange into one of these Marriott sightings, if it is even possible?

If exchange is not possible, what are the other realistic avenues to go to one of these Marriott resorts (besides buying a Marriott)?

    Show us your stuff...

Well - you have to tell us what you own - I trade into Marriotts using non- Marriott weeks all the time......

It also helps to request your travel dates 13-14 months ahead to get the first ones deposited (after the M 24 day preference)

    Soooooooo....what do ya got???

There are a few older Marriotts that trade with RCI. Other than that, trading for them with II without owning a Marriott is somewhat difficult in that they are first offered to Marriott owners and if no one takes them after 21 days or so they go into the general II inventory. Then you need a quality deposit in order to see one for exchange. Off and shoulder seasons are what you will see most at the better places.

        Thanks Pat,

I have Fairfield points. 300,000 odd years, 426,000 even years. Points are affiliated with RCI. No other TS.

          mike,

are your points associated with ii ?....if so, become a member.

if not, you could try to reserve a really good week with your points, and then rent it out......with the money you make from your rental, you could rent a marriott.

of course, you could always buy points that are affiliated with ii, or buy one of the cheaper marriotts..............

If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

maybe, if you were able to reserve a really good week, at a really good resort, you could try to do a direct trade with someone.

i wish i could help you get a marriott........

              Mike:

I think you may need to think to buy WM to get to II. Since Perry claims it can be done. But based on Boca's plan, it maybe harder to achieve if you don't own them. So maybe you will need to have at least one week in Marriotts with cheapest 10 year cost and buying some lowest package from WM (like 5000 points) through resell, and has to be old one (their new one can go through RCI only)

I'd rent swap. Cash is king. Next choice would be a direct exchange, but that can be off-putting to some.

Depending on where you reserved your points and what Marriott you want, one of the independents might be able to help you.

Mike, you got most good suggestions already but also try to take advantage of a promotional package and take a tour.

They won't twist your arm like some of them do. We had a hard time with Worldmark but not with Fairfield. They were very professional.

                    Thanks to all,

I appreciate the suggestions. It's just that Angela dangles those Marriott cherries out there very day on the exchange opportunities and I'm itching to taste one.

Yeah, I think Marriott's resell value may be up by a notch because of that.

Cypress Harbour in Orlando is a Marriott and trades with RCI. It is truly spectacular.

                            Becky,

To access the Exchange Opportunities, you need at least 15 posts or make a monetary contribution to TS4MS. You have 10 posts, you only need 5 more.

                            Go get 'em girl!

Some of us use lower cost $48 and $50 weeks that are non WM weeks to trade into II.

Week 42 at the new Marroitt in Las Vegas is one that I grabbed for 2007.

This is a higher rated RCI Point week than most weeks in Las Vegas including Christmas Time and takes as many RCI Points as a New Years week.

No, I did not use RCI Points to trade into that week 42 but a $50 Nov 2006 Blue week banked May 19,this year and exchanged on June 13, 2006 for that Marriot.

Also used the same resort weeks to Deposit weeks into RCI Points to book 3 days the same week 42 at our RCI Points Home resort the same week 42 as we rented our home week out.

We just got back from staying at the Fairfield Nashville from Sunday to Thursday. We did the 45 minute tour for the $80 which dropped our total cost for our 2 bedroom Fairfield exchange and cost of RCI Points down from about $160 to $80.
The Fairfeilds are nice places and we have enoyed staying at them about 4 tomes using RCI Points or our $48 and $50. weeks.

We also used weeks from the same resort to trade into The Cabins at Big Cedar through RCI Points. Also from the same resort traded into places that some of my friends on this site do not want me to mention, so I will not.

I am not claiming that I would get the very Top trades in Marriot but we are very happy with the types trades we get with Marrott and the low cost of those trades.

                              Bruce
