Some of us use lower cost $48 and $50 weeks that are non WM weeks to trade into II.
Week 42 at the new Marroitt in Las Vegas is one that I grabbed for 2007.
No, I did not use RCI Points to trade into that week 42 but a $50 Nov 2006 Blue week banked May 19,this year and exchanged on June 13, 2006 for that Marriot.
Also used the same resort weeks to Deposit weeks into RCI Points to book 3 days the same week 42 at our RCI Points Home resort the same week 42 as we rented our home week out.
I am not claiming that I would get the very Top trades in Marriot but we are very happy with the types trades we get with Marrott and the low cost of those trades.

Hi Bruce,
Can I assume this was your UDI that you used to do this?
Would the 'average' TS owner have access to this type of week?
I didn't realize you could trade into Cypress Harbour with RCI- and I just had to check it out- it looks like it would be rather limited though. There are 2 other Marriotts in Orlando tho that trade more through RCI (tho RCI kinda hides the Marriott name) Sabal Palms and Royal Palms. All three also trade through II.
I have Fairfield points. 300,000 odd years, 426,000 even years. Points are affiliated with RCI. No other TS.
Use your points to get a primo Fairfield resort to deposit with RCI. Get the one in Alexandria VA during prime summer, for example. Deposit it two years in advance with RCI if you're allowed to by Fairfield. Then request Marriotts that exchange via RCI. Marriott Monarch on Hilton Head is one of the nicer ones. Good luck to you!

A great idea to reserve a top Fairfield resort - but here is a slightly different take.
Go to the "Ask SFX" forum on this site....and ask Mark @ SFX if he will accept a deposit from Alexandria and what time frame....actually, give him several examples of properties and times you could reserve. You can then deposit with SFX and request a Marriott. It is important with SFX to be flexible with travel dates and locations but it might be worth a try.
They also give excellent bonus weeks with very few restrictions - I just used mine for a 1BR Powell Place this October for $399.
Thanks for your suggestion. I, in fact, have put a couple of deposits into SFX and received the bonus weeks for next year. To me, to an exchange into a Marriott on my own, SFX is probably the only way to do it.
I have had some PM's about possible direct exchanges with other members, which I appreciate very much and will see if something can work out.
I don't own a Marriott and have traded into one, 4 times in the last two years. Sometimes it has been a challenge. I traded into Newport Coast twice once with a whistler week week at a non-5* resort, once I had to use our 5* Club intrawest, Picked up a Marriott Custom house with a SoCal Sept week and just picked up a Manor Club with a labor day Whistler week.
None of the marriott's weeks were "prime time" but all were weak "platinum" weeks. (no gold or silver marriott weeks)
Could find a way to get the Marriott in Hawaii we wanted so we rented a week.

that's great....i never thought of SFX. hopefully, they will put you in a marriott.....

If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.
BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.
Fairfield doesn’t let you deposit any of its weeks into II? That really stinks. I suppose that I shouldn’t be surprised, though – Fairfield is owned by the same parent company as RCI, and they want to force you to use RCI.
Have you considered buying an inexpensive (but high quality) week that trades through II? That’s what I did, and I see some very nice Marriott weeks with it -- not the really high demand weeks such as Hawaii, ski weeks, & beach weeks in mid-summer, but I see Orlando, Williamsburg, and Palm Springs all the time, and I got Newport Coast Villas for next Memorial Day week.
Judy, are you sure that you cannot deposit your FF deeded week in II? How can they stop you? Maybe they can stop you once it is deposited in their points inventory?
Mike, I know that the MDSV-I is listed in the RCI directory too. They must have some units left in the RCI space bank.

This is because the earliest MVCI resorts were associated with RCI - Marriott became dissatisfied with the arrangement and moved everything over to II - but allowed the original resorts to be dual affiliated.

Yes, it was just a CMV UDI Oak Timber 2 bedroom unit Thanksgiving week.
I think any old 2 bedroom CMV week except maybe the lowest reated could pull it if you look out far enough a head of time.

I know, that is the thing the puzzle me. Since Boca owns both WM and BG, but still want to buy a Marriott. I will believe there is some owner perference in II exchange even in flex period. But don't know if certain resort chain matter. If BG can get as well as WM, then maybe the resell price will jump a notch. On the other hand, if Mr. Seagull has his way, maybe not a good idea.
