  • Grande Ocean's Blue Light Special

For anyone exchanging into Marriott's Grande Ocean on Hilton Head, if you'll be staying in a refurbed bldg, be aware they've installed a weird blue light in the ceiling of the master bathroom. I guess the concept is for it to serve as a large night light, but heck, you cannot turn the thing off and even if you close the door to the toilet, it still shines right through the clear glass block wall onto your bed. Light sleepers be forewarned! Bring a sleeping mask or be prepared to sleep in the second bedroom as we ended up doing! (Thank goodness we didn't bring guests!)

    Signed,

    Light-sensitive Carol C

Nope, it's a ceiling light, a big square thingie. No way to reach it without access to a ladder. I tried to throw a wet towel up there but it didn't stick! Hmmm, I wonder if wet spaghetti would work. Wouldn't it be funny if housekeeping came in after we checked out to find a bunch of wadded and dried up spaghetti stuck to their pesky blue bathroom light fixture?

What did management say when you told them about it and how you had to change bedrooms to sleep?

Good thing it was not a red light or you would have had men knocking at your door during the wee hours of night.

I thought the light was green! I didn't even notice it when the door was closed. I often go to sleep with the TV on so maybe that's why it didn't bother me.
