  • Marriott Exchange Questions - Please help!

We just purchased Waiohai a few weeks ago and our first week of use is 2008. I am going to exchange this week for Orlando (Summer 2008). A few questions:

    1. I want to deposit the week as early as possible with getting as much trading power as possible (trying to get into a Disney property). Do any Jan.-March weeks accomplish this?

    2. When depositing with II, I was told we'll get a bonus week (same as AC, right?). Can this AC be used for a 2007 week?

    3. If I use this AC for a week at a resort that offers golf discounts, (I read about HHI Harbour Club - 2 rounds/day?) will I still receive these discounts?

    Thanks for any help!

Your Hawaii week, reserved for Winter 2008 will have great trading power. The earliest you can reserve will be Jan 2007 for Jan 2008.
BUT, when you own Marriott you have a huge advantage trading into other Marriotts, Therefore IMHO, I'd trade into one of the Orlando Marriotts and not try for a Disney. In fact, if you want to go to Orlando in 2007, your AC will get you into most of the Orlando Marriotts and you can save your deposited week for a difficult to get week somewhere else.

The AC will be good for 12 months from the date of the deposit. So if you deposit a Jan 2008 week in Jan 2007, the AC will only be good in 2007.

    I don't know.

    Hope this helps

I agree with Bill's suggestion, great advice!

That is a good suggestion, but my wife has her heart set on Disney property (maybe I can change her mind) and we can't go until 2008. I will deposit that week as soon as I can in Jan. 2007.

How are the Marriotts in Orlando? What are the advantages/disadvantages of staying at a Marriott instead of Disney?

        Thanks again.

I think it's Heritage Club (Marriott) that has free golf on HHI.

Do you know if an AC will still get the free golf?

              Lance,

BTW, Last year, I used the AC, that I got from my Marriott Aruba Surf Club, to get Disney's Boardwalk Villas, beginning of Feb. I made the exchange about 6 months out.

To answer your question, the Marriott's in Orlando are great! My family likes the Grande Vista, but they are all nice.

The biggest advantage of staying in a Disney timeshare is the close proximety to the parks. Being able to go to the parks one hour before or after, it is opened to the public. The Magic Express bus, which picks you up, and drops you back off at the airport, free of charge. Having anything that you purchase at the parks, deliverd to your room, for free. And the general feeling that the various themes of the different timeshares offer.

There may be more perks, but those are the ones that I can remember.

              Good Luck!

                Marriott trades for a Disney

There is an additional $95 fee for Disney but it's well worth it. If you snag a Disney with an AC then great; otherwise, I would hold out for on-Disney accommodations. We were able to make the trade and I know Disney would like to get your TS in Hawaii. They did ours a few years back. We got in at Boardwalk! I agree that all the Marriotts are nice in Orlando but if you're going to experience Disney and Disney alone for the week a Disney property is what I would seek.

Wow, I didn't think you could get Disney with an AC. When you get the AC from II, what is the process in reserving a week? I'm looking to get a Marriott on Hilton Head Island for the summer of 2007 with the AC. I'll be reserving about 6 months out as well. Is this wishful thinking?

I think you might be able to get the last couple of weeks in August. I'm not positive, though. I'm guessing that the end of June, through mid August, will probably be impossible.

Once you get your AC, you can do searches with it, and grab, anything that you see. I believe that you are restricted from booking an exchange at your home resort, although, you may see it on the grid.

BTW, you can not see this grid until you are issued the AC.

Thanks again. I'll see how all of this goes in January.

Yes, this will have the trade power to get a DVC property - BUT - 2BR summer deposits are rare. Put your request in at least 10 months before your travel dates. Historically, DVC has been seen in January/early February, May, June, Sept-December excluding holiday weeks.

                        2. When depositing with II, I was told we'll get a bonus week (same as AC, right?). Can this AC be used for a 2007 week? As stated above, the AC can be used for 12 months from the deposit date. There are many restrictions to using an AC - you can reserve anything you can see within 60 days of check-in - beyond 60 days, you must search using a 'grid' that is found either online or on the paper cert you will receive.

                        3. If I use this AC for a week at a resort that offers golf discounts, (I read about HHI Harbour Club - 2 rounds/day?) will I still receive these discounts?
No, it must be a Mar to Mar week exchange...Thanks for any help!

I am not Angela BUT ......

I also got DVC with an AC - but it was by getting up early and searching online....
As far as Hilton Head for summer 2007 - you will only be able to use your AC 60 days before check-in....this will be a difficult trade unless you are looking for the last 2 weeks in August...if you were willing to use your week, you should be able to get a summer week by requesting the exchange 12-14 months ahead.
