When are MF's billed and how are they paid (by check only, online via credit card)?
This may be a very stupid question, but does Marriott give points for MF payments like they do for any Marriott stay charges?

The fees are normally billed near the end of November or in December, depending on the resort. You can pay by check or credit card. You can also pay online (except for Phuket fees) by logging into your MVCI account and clicking on "Pay My Maintenance Fee".

When you stay at a Marriott you can get points for the stay and for charging the stay on a Marriott Visa. When you pay your MF, you'll get Marriott Rewards points only through the credit card and only if you use a Marriott Visa. You can earn to five points per dollar, depending on which Marriott Visa card you have.

Thanks Dave...I guess thinking that they would credit the normal 10 points per dollar spent for the MF's was wishful thinking :-). Trying to decide if the Marriott Visa is worth the yearly fee for the card, since except for Marriott charges it is only 1 point per dollar.

I have the new Marriott Premier Visa card. In addition to 5 MR points per $1 for all Marriott purchases and expenditures, it offers 2 MR points per $1 for airline, dining and rental car charges. I figure that beats (by a narrow margin) the value of the 1 FF mile per $1 that I get on most of those purchases with my airline Visa. For other charges, the charges that would get only 1 point per $1, I usually use my airline Visa.

Since I'm on a plane and in a hotel about two weekends of every three, the points from those charges make the card well worthwhile for me. You would have to decide whether your level of expected charges could justify the $65 annual fee.
