recording question - new owner

I was informed by an agent at the closing firm we used for our resale that the docs are in the mail. All recording of deed has been completed as required.
I was curious of the transfer of ownership status, and anxious to reserve a week for 2007 at MMC, so I contacted Owner Svcs. today.

I was told by OS that the paperwork may not be completed at MMC so they do not see me as owner yet, and as a result I cannot request reservation yet.
Person at OS said that a resale transfer of ownership recording may take a little longer to be updated in their systems.
Told me to check back in a couple of weeks or so. That seems like a long wait to be reflected as new owner given that deed has been revised and recorded in (VA).
Would someone comment on Marriott transfers, MMC resort in particular, and how long it should take from here to be able to reserve my unit?
Summer '07 is filling up fast and with each week that goes by I know my chances diminish. thanks.

I can't answer your question but another alternative would be to ask either the seller or the resale agent (if you bought through one) to make the reservation and then that can be transferred to your name after all is processed. We did that on our recent Surf Club purchase allowing us to get the week we wanted even though we are waiting to close.

I know, thanks, it is a good idea. Though I wish I thought of it weeks ago as we are sort of in limbo as seller is out of the picture now. OS told me yesterday that they see the account with my name as owner but specific data, like generic week assignment (we own floating) and room are not logged. They said that can take a couple of weeks to get completed in the home resort database and relay downstream to Marriott OS office.
I thought that seemed to be a long time and wanted to know why so long to update the ownership record. I was told it was because we bought from seller and not directly from Marriott sales. I am skeptical of this "excuse" but what can I do!?
