Marriott checks in but never leaves....

Since this is more appropriate to the Marriott forum than Ask SFX, I wondered the following:

Has anyone who has ever done business with SFX ever received a Marriott interval for an exchange request? If so, when (year) and where (resort)?

I once posed the muse, based on the Eagle's song "Hotel California", opining that a Marriott can "check in" to SFX, but it can "never leave". I never received a direct answer from Mark on that subject.

Yeah, it's Roach Motels where roaches check in but they don't check out.

Anyway, Mark has told me that the Marriott Custom House in Boston is basically never going to happen. For me, anyway. Maybe it would happen for someone with a higher-powered deposit.

What I'm trying to figure out is what SFX does with all the Marriott intervals which are deposited. If they're not going to requesters, where are they going?

My opinion is that they are being used to obtain multiple intervals at other resorts with other exchange companies, increasing SFX's inventory and bettering their bottom line (more exchange fees).

I'm not limiting this to Marriott, but Marriott is an obvious leader in the timeshare industry and their intervals are generally recognized as high quality.

I've also noticed that the people who used to exbound upon all the great exchanges they've received from SFX are mysteriously absent from TUG and TS4M's of late. I wonder what happened to them...

I'm going to test my hypothesis shortly

In February I joined SFX and deposied a 1BR Marriott Grande Vista (Orlando) Presidents week...I received a 'regular' deposit to exchange, a bonus week for $379 and a Mexico Bonus week for $399.
I exchanged the bonus week for a 1BR at Powell Place for my parents in October....I will probably use the 'regular' deposit for a Grand Mayan unit or maybe Manhattan club - avoiding the 'extra' RCI fee.
At this time - I probably won't use the mexican week as I have WAY too many things going on. What they do with the Marriotts they get - don't know.
But I joined to get the stuff that I can't get thru II and that RCI has SO many restrictions on.

So, did anyone out there request any GOT Marriott intervals? I deposited a MGC with SFX for the end of December. I'm pretty sure there were some other GOT intervals deposited because SFX was offering a 3-1 on most of them.

I had hoped to avoid II to work deals with our Marriott intervals, but perhaps that strategy was short-sighted. It'll be interesting to see what happens when Marriott goes internal.
