  • What's going on here at my favorite TS chain

Did not know there was another universe over here at TS4MS. I see all of you folks over at TUG but you guys left me out of the party here at TS4MS. What is the advantage here?

I see this is a burning question since you have posted it elsewhere... I guess the answer is for you to just hang around here awhile and decide for yourself

    Welcome to TS4Ms!

I, Buff/Scott, and Roger started www.tstips.com , Things fell apart and I came here to an empty shell where I met one of the best computer programmers I know, Ken. We transformed this site in 24 hours straight without taking a break. I then brought the crew over from tips and got the independents over here as well as a few others. Next thing you know here we are. Ken keeps making the site updated with constant improvements while I keep the site flowing with what ever I can come up with. I try to keep it as much fun as possible.

Personally, I love both sites. But, I find myself posting here more than on TUG. And, for some reason, I've made a lot more friends on this site.

TUG has a "be courteous" rule that leads to a lot of censorship. Controversial topics are very difficult to have there due to it. I believe this site is much better at allowing controversial topics to be fully vetted.

It is possible to talk openly about Orange Lake Country Club here. On TUG, you have to think twice about everything you post there.

              What's strong about TUG is:

              1) lots of reviews and listings.
              2) lots of users. for more than TS4Ms. you can always find someone with specific timeshare knowledge.
              3) very active Marriott group.
              4) lots of content captured over many years.
              5) great last minute rentals forum
              6) RCI representative

              What's strong about TS4Ms is:

              1) great sightings volume
              2) private HOA forums (FF, GPR, etc)
              3) more subforums (e.g. Sunterra and Bluegreen)
              4) photo server
              5) chat server
              6) political forum
              7) independent exchange company reps

Ken is great at adding new features. I believe that this site has had an impact on TUG. TUG is more willing to add features now than a year ago. I think this is in part due to TS4Ms.

I think both sites will be successful long term.

What is your TUG name? Have I seen you post there?

The people over here are great. I love to watch the sightings here and the jokes are funny!

Boca's advice on Bluegreen here is really terrific and he has found a great niche for himself here on 4MS. He is truly the Timeshare Kahuna. I also appreciate Spence's advice on Sunterra. I wish I understood both of those systems, but I just don't think I can talk Rick into any more timeshares anyway.

The OLCC controversy has me a little flustered on TUG. I cannot say anything about MY OWN EXPERIENCE without being called a liar by some OLCC owners who post regularly on TUG. That keeps me censored for sure, so Boca is right on that one. My feelings have been hurt countless times by those who moderate and/or criticize my posts

I think TUG is wonderful and I have so much respect for those who moderate and post there regularly. I think there are more meaty subjects on TUG at any given time. That would be the only difference I see between the two that keeps me going back and forth.

This site is much relax, like you sit in a sauna room, or pool party, or birthday and doing gossip that may involve travel and timeshare. Tug is more former like you come to an office where you plan to talk about travel and timeshare that may involve other topics.

The only similarity is you know when people hang around either site, they love or interesting in travel and timeshare.

I like both forums for different reasons. TUG seams to be heavily wieghted for Marriott users and folks who use RCI. You can't beat the reviews section and the wealth of info available for newbies. TS4Ms is much smaller in membership but seems to have a more diverse group. I originally came over to use the SFX forum but quickly found the banter over here to be so much fun.The II sightings are really great (thank you Angela) I even signed on for the political forum even though I keep my comments to myself. Both sites are a great asset to timeshare users and I thank all those who keep them running and all those who post.

Problems and an out of touch owner led to the forming of a secret group of discontented members looking for something different in a timeshare site. When Tips came along, they plus others matriculated there. When things went wrong there, most of that membership moved here. I still go to TUG, but mainly for only 2 forums unless someone tells me about something of interest there.
I think Ken will keep things interesting and improving and I think Frank will keep the high level of freedom to post without things getting chaotic.

When you refer to sightings can you please explain that one some more?

Name is the same over on TUG but I have not been too loud over there. Fairly new to this stuff as well. Signed up in 7/2001 on TUG and did research on MGV that I had just bought on the trip to ORLANDO. As soon as I got back I searched the net and found TUG. Guess what I did. . RESCINDED ASAP. Laid back and forgot about TS for a few years. Then I did not get interested in TS until recently. So here I am!

For sighting go to menu "Forum Navigation" Then "Exchange Opportunity". You need to have I guess 15 posts or more to see it, and I believe you pass it.

For Photo go to menu "Websitr Navigation" the "Photo Server"

I think the contributors on this site are more experienced, give more advanced info to the already seasoned owner.
