  • What would you do with 150K Rewards Pts.?

    Hi,

My 1st thread started on this site so be gentle . As to my question, I'd like to add some restrictions. We would like to travel between weeks 24 and 34 because of kids. We would like to stay on the east coast and/or FL and will need a 2 Bdr. As you think about it also include when you would call to make the reservation.

    Thanks,
    Y-ASK

    We live in Michigan....

So we used up a big chunk of my 150,000 points I had earned, by staying at the Marriott at Bay Harbor in Petoskey.

It really was a gorgeous resort!

I waned to use my points to visit St. Thomas for a week, but alas... It was better to drive for us this summer to some place close by.

Personally, I think that the best use of Marriott points is their air/hotel package. Or, if you are a silver rewards member, their hopper & sampler packages.

However, for the Hotel/Air package, you would need to get more points. You can purchase more points from Marriott, so that you have enough for the package.

      Here are some examples......

So you want to be close to everything on your next vacation? Then use your points to enjoy a Hotel Sampler-the package that allows you to split seven nights of hotel accommodations. Click the Reward details links below for more information.

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

I would recommend Hilton Head as there are several great Marriott resorts there, but I think you're going to have a hard time finding points availability at the Vacation Clubs there (but you might get lucky with week 34 as it is the beginning of shoulder season on HHI)... I have never had any luck finding points stays in prime season in anything other than hotel rooms. The Marriott hotel there is nice, though...

I thank you all for taking the time to share your thought, please keep them coming. Hi Glitter, only problem with HHI is that my wife hated it. We stayed there in Nov. for a couple of days and she did not like the area at all. The kids and I had a great time at the pool but she didn't like the "swamp" smell as she called. I can't imagine how she would have felt if we stayed there in the summer time .

            to TS.....

Where did you get the points?

I ask because if you got them from a TS purchase, they can't be used for a TS stay.

Usually people make point reservations 10 1/2 to 11 months before they go...the points rooms are released at the 11 month.

Don't stay on the swamp side, stay on the ocean side Yes, it gets pretty hot down there, but Florida is worse!! We may try Williamsburg this summer, but I am dreading the heat since it's inland.

Thanks for the welcome . I've been lurking for awhile and on TUG. There was a thread on TUG that talked about a deal that Marriott was offering. You can now purchase rewards points. Since I was considering the purchase of a OceanWatch timeshare and had already decided that I was going to become a rewards member I decide to test the system. I bought the one transaction limit of 99,000 pts. for $990.00 and then a few minutes later I bought another 51,000 pts. for $510.00. As I understand the purchase I should be able to use them with Marriott's Vacation Club Resorts. At least that is what I am hoping. See this thread for more details:
