Marriott Phuket

I am a new Marriott Owner.
I bought a timeshare at Marriott's Vacation Club, Phuket. The membership is Gold which is summers months. What are the +'s and -'s to buying this timeshare? I bought this timeshare with the intention of trading and going to other Marriott locations. Will I have problems trading? The unit is a 2/2?

Please tell us when you bought your ownership, and whether you bought it directly from Marriott or as a resale from an individual owner... if you bought it in the last few days from Marriott we might advise you to rescind the contract and buy resale... but if it is too late for that you will find a lot of helpful information here to help you maximize your ownership. Marriott is top shelf. I don't know how many Phuket owners we have here, but it is not an easy trade to get, so if you place your requests at least a year ahead you should do fairly well if your requests are reasonable.. where would you like to go, and when?

Actually, Phuket is quite an easy trade during the summer - the slow season for that part of the world. However, as Glitter suggests, deposit early and make reasonable requests (don't expect a U.S. beach week in July!) and you should do okay.

I just did a search with both a Marriott and non-Marriott week 2BR week. There was only 4 dates available for July and August and LOTS in May-October.
Your best bet is to try for a holiday week in your season, July 4th or Memorial or Labor Day - with July 4th being the best choice.
Deposit at the 1 year mark and request early.
