  • Bronze Summit Watch for $1,500

I've read a couple of threads that people are able to pick up 2BR Lock-offs for $1,500. This seems like a great way to take advantage of flextime.

Is anybody willing to share the details?

If I remember correctly, Marriott is selling these weeks at this price. You can purchase one directly from them.

If you are looking for an inexpensive Marriott to grab flexchange sightings with, this will do the trick. However, outside of flexhange, it has little to no trading power.

If you can travel on short notice, this will get you some great exchanges, and you can recoup your initial investment, after one or two great trades.

Make sure to purchase a 2 bdrm, and lock-off the unit, as each will see most sightings, during that time frame.

If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

Thanks Angela--for your response and your inspiration through all your great sightings postings.

Since I am awaiting Marriott's ROFR on another property during platinum season elsewhere, I am thinking this might be a nice addition to my portfolio.

One other question--I've seen ebay adds claiming an exchange fee of $89. Are Marriott to Marriott exchanges in II $89 or are the $139?

Mar to Mar exchange fee is $89 domestic or international but you can ONLY have Marriott resorts in the request. If you add another non-Marriott resort, the fee goes up to $139/$154

I wasn't aware of the "discounted" exchange fee. Thanks for the information

It looks like a pretty good deal & the units are lock offs, which allows you 2 trades per unit year, but the MF are high.

If I recall correctly the MFs are about $850/year. Which is OK for a Platinum week which is a great trader. But for a bronze week that can be used only for trading during flextime IMHO it is too much.

$950 and will get a bonus week..... I wouldn't do it as I can't travel inthe 60 day window.

You really should search the Marriott forum at Tug because there were several threads over the last few months discussing the pros and cons of this, the buying process and a lot of anecdotal stories about all the great trades in Flexchange people have gotten.

I have toyed with the idea of purchasing one. My concern is that Marriott is developing its own internal trading system and the details are unknown. In a few years that Bronze week will likely be still useful in II for Flexchanges to non-Marriotts, but those buying it with the idea of last minute trades into other Marriotts, esp. during prime season, may very well be disappointed. That great bargain may not be such a good deal at that point. It is true that, for $1500, a few good trades would more than compensate for the purchase price; however, it might be an almost worthless albatross with a $950 and escalating annual cost. On the other hand, Boca and a few others might just sit on the sidelines laughing at us...ahh...anyone have a crystal ball ?

It's absolutely not worth it. Stay away. Forget it. It's a bad deal.

After all, I hate looking at this site all day long. At this very moment, there is a pod of whales swimming about 500 yards from the beach:

Just got back from the welcome party. Had 2 Mai Tais and about a dozen dumplings. Mmm, mmm, good.

Breakfast this morning at Kula Lodge. I think I want to live in up country Maui. It feels a lot like Woodside, CA. Buck's is my favorite place for breakfast in the World. Kula Lodge is right up there, though.

Yesterday, I went to see the Westin Ka'anapali. Wow, that is an ultra nice resort. Those oceanfront units are really nice. $69.9k for a 2 bedroom oceanfront. Ouch.

As I said...BocaBum99 is a Grand Master, Jedi Master, Grand Poobah, Yoda, and all around king of the Flextrade when it comes to upgrading his bronze SW week into Hawaii Diamond weeks (I just invented a week as Gold and Platinum weeks are not valuable enough).

Keep posting those pictures and I will toast to you when I meet Steve1000 for lunch on Thursday in Boca.
