  • Marriott /exchange AZ - 4/08 ?

I have a deposit with II for week #7 (08) 2 bdrm plt. MHZ. were planning on going to Arizona in 08 April- wk 16 (kids are off) I see some availability for 2brm (like for like) but would really like to stay at MCV or comparable resort. what would be the best way to exchange in this situation? (should I just place a request for the Marriott only, and see what else comes up ?) Or should I request other places ? I'm not really sure what my trading power is with this particuliar resort /time , compared to AZ at that time?

If I were you, I would place a request for MCV, as well as Westin Kierland Villas, and Four Seasons Residence Club Scottsdale . Those would be my first choices.

You can also do your own II searches, and see what you are able to pull.

      Good Luck!!!

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

Wk 7 is President's week, probably very high demand in Orlando. The week you want is not Spring break across the board, it varies by school district. I would put in a request through II for all the resorts you want; if you get matched to a Marriott, ask for a partial refund of your exchange fee.

I didn't know that they will do that. That's really good to know. Thanks!!!

Not guaranteed, but worth asking. It's a pretty major flaw in their system, as far as I'm concerned, that you get charged a higher fee even if you're matched to a Marriott. I never had it happen, but read about this OY a while ago.

I have actually had it happen to me a number of times. I think that every time that I placed a request, I have added non-Marriott resorts. I have a request in right now, including non-Marriott resorts. I never got a refund, and was always matched to a Marriott. Of course, I never asked.

But, I will know better this time!

Also, fyi, I was checking RCI earlier today for Sedona; there were a number of Gold Crown resorts for your dates including Sunterra Ridge and Summit...there are probably also some Extra Vacations in the "under $900" range... let me know if you want a sighting...

Isnt Sedona (mountains) much cooler at that time of year than say Phoenix ? (my kids love pools)

Put your request in NOW as owners who reserve at 12 months out will be depositing this next week.
I think you will have a fairly good chance of getting the exchange - unfortunately what happens with resorts that are all lock-offs is that people do just that - lock off!
Horizons is just a 'pinch' below the trade level of regular Marriotts but week 7 Orlando is very high demand. As Glitter said, not all school districts are off that week and the 'regulars' in Phoenix are there February and march.

Let us know how you make out!

Is there a way to find Marriott owners willing to trade for RCI weeks?

That would be a if you are talking about trading exchanges. Not allowed by II, or RCI; same as the rule against rentals...
