  • Help with OceanWatch Purchase Decision - Please.

I posted this on TUG and my need for immediate gratification got the better of me so I am posting here as well - no replies on TUG so far . . .

    *********************************************

    Very excited here . . . . should I be???

I low balled an offer to an owner of a OceanWatch Garden View Unit - platinum season. The owner counter offered for $17K. First question is this a good or great resale price? Marriott does not have any garden view inventory left [they say], but they sold the platinum weeks for $25,900 when they had them.

The listing agent works with the following closing companies:
    • Old Republic
    • Duncan Realty
    • Transfer my Timeshare Now

    Is one better than another?

I'm hoping to hear that this is a great price and that these are reputable closing companies.

The only footnote is that usage will not begin until 2008. I left a message with the listing agent to find out when MFs are due.

I don't know Marriott pricing, sorry. But I do know Duncan Realty, that's who I would pick.
... not enough time for all the timeshares ®

Marriott - Ocean Watch - Ocean Front

      Charles

Having sold and rented vacation homes in Ocean City Maryland
for nearly 30 years - I feel that "Ocean Front" is the way to go.

If you ever decide to rent a Marriott MOW Myrtle Beach or HHI
You will be able recover the price difference in just a few years
You will enjoy an Ocean Front unit much better than Garden View.

Ask yourself, would you like to stay ocean front or garden view?
Seen Plat Garden Views for between $17,500 & $20,000 and Up.

I agree with Marti that beach/ocean front is the best bet. I'm not familiar with pricing, but 17.5 k is more than I would pay for any timeshare.

I got all excited about buying a Hilton Head resort and then Myrtle Beach after staying at HH not long ago and seeing a Grande Ocean platinum week listed on Redweek for $14,000. There is little chance that the wife will go for a $17K+ purchase. We'll see.

Heck, I get excited about buying another resort almost every time we exchange. Fortunately I only get so much vacation time each year.

Me too! I get 4 weeks per year, and own 7 weeks. Fortunately I'm close enough to retirement that I have 5 weeks deposited with SFX , and will probably add 3-4 next year to use in retirement.
