  • Marriott Frenchman's Cove

Good morning! I got such great information regarding Marriott to Disney trading that I thought I'd toss out a request for information regarding Marriott's Frenchman's Cove on St. Thomas USVI. We are heading down for Thanksgiving this year. I would love to get an inside scoop on the resort, food options, transportation around the island, nearby grocery stores, things to do (we have a 5 year old), etc. If anyone has been to this resort and would like to share, I'd love to hear about it!!!!

Also, as an aside. We own at Marriott's Ocean Watch in Myrtle Beach and have stayed there many times. If I can be a resource regarding MB and that resort, send your questions my way! We love it there.

    Cheers!

I visited the resort when I was there in Jan 2006 - it was still under construction then.
I am returning to STT in a few weeks and we will certainly visit the resort.
I had friends who went this summer - they had 12 people in 2 2BR units and they were quite comfortable.
They didn't rent a car but will when they go back.
We also rent a car and do not find it difficult to drive on the left, just go slow .
Taxi fares are expensive and they charge PER PERSON (including kids!) so it can really add up.

I will post more about the grocery shopping when I get back - but there are several choices..we pack an extra suitcase(we actually have a rolling cooler ) with dry tortellini/pasta and sauce mixes, cans/packages of chicken/tuna, condiments/coffee, micro popcorn..you get the picture - to save on food costs.
We like to have breakfast and lunch in our unit.....but there are also nice restaurants at the resort and nearby in town.

It is a very beautiful island and i know u will enjoy your trip.

Pat, we will definitely pack a cooler of dry goods. We did the same when travelling to Aruba's Ocean club and it worked out great! It's a great tip. We also packed rafts, noodles, sand toys, etc. in a duffle bag that we checked...saved a ton of money. I'll look forward to your impressions of this property. We are excited to be going for T-day. Are you planning to rent a car?

      Cheers!

Yes, I am going to rent a car....you really need it to get around - we love to snorkel, so with the car, we drive to the beaches, snorkel and are back at the BeachClub for a late lunch....I also want to spend a day at Magens Bay Beach.
