  • What is the likelihood of exchanging to Grand Chateau this May?

I am trying to gauge the likelihood of obtaining a 1BR at Grand Chateau in Las Vegas during the first week of May (05/01/2008-05/08/2008.) I just put in a request to exchange with our Ocean Pointe week.

Any ideas? Wish I had found this forum sooner

I just searched for you and didn't see the Marriott. There were other resorts available for your dates. At this point, it would be a last minute cancel that you would probably get.

Thanks for looking I called the Grand Chateau this morning and inquired about exchanging and I was told that the timeshare properties available are only released to II 90 days beforehand...or something along those lines...so in other words it wasn't too late. Any truth to that?

Actually the front desk people at the Chateau wouldn't be privy to what TS OWNERS deposit in II BUT - they might be aware that the DEVELOPER deposits units into II at 90 days of their available inventory - that they haven't rented or held aside for promotional tours.

I don't think May would be considered a 'high time' in Vegas trade wise - I don't have my II book with the travel demand index with me as I am traveling - if you have one, you can check to see how high a demand II has given your week.

Let us know how u make out.

I unfortunately don't have access to my II directory either (at home, 2500 miles away ) The more I'm reading through some of these threads though...the more nervous I'm getting. People talking about requesting exchanges 6-12 months in advance and still getting zilch. I suppose it's in my favor that I'm trying to exchange a Marriott week but if MGC doesn't come through in the next month or so, I probably won't be able to make it happen.

I'll definitely let you all know if I have any luck. And again, anyone with some anecdotal experience with exchanging less than 3 months out...please weigh in!

I think you might have a chance, as May isn't too high a demand month....and if you have Marriott priority, you may be hearing something by mid-March....I would also keep an eye on your account, to see if anything shows up...

You ought to check the required minimum age for checkin -- many timeshare resorts require registering guests to be 25 or over...

Sorry, didn't mean to scare you, just save you a nasty surprise just in case -- at least one of the places I own has a minimum 25 restriction. Glad it won't ruin your fun in Vegas

I think you have a really good shot at getting a 1 bdrm in May. It is not peak season, and you are using a Marriott. Just make sure that your request is in with II. That particular Marriott is not sold out, and there are constant deposits being made into II. I'll also keep an eye out for you.

You have to get up early to grab the sightings tho. They are normally gone within 30 minutes, or so.

                          Good luck!!!

If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

Thanks Angela! I'm a bit confused though. I have my request in with II and so I figured that if anything became available at MGC that week, I would automatically get it (assuming no one is in line before me?) Is it still possible that a room will be released without automatically getting it/being notified?

No........You are correct. If you have a request in with II, you will automatically be in line for the unit. However, anyone who is using a stronger trader, or who has placed their request before you, (assuming their trading power is equal/better to yours) will get their request placed first.

I only say that I will keep any eye open for you, because unusual stuff sometimes happens.
