  • Marco Island’s New Marriott Vacation Club’s Crystal Shores luxury timeshare

I would think this will eventually trade in II.

With initial occupancy of 71 units scheduled for just a year down the road, the Marriott Vacation Club’s Crystal Shores luxury timeshare complex visitors’ center had an official kick-off on Jan. 30.

Crystal Shores is rapidly rising on the property that formerly housed the Radisson Suite Beach Resort, and sales are already brisk according to county-released figures.

The function, attended by senior Marriott Vacation Club management and local dignitaries, had special significance for the Marco Island YMCA.

Its Executive Director, Cindy Love, accepted a $20,000 goodwill donation that she said would enable at least five needy children to attend the Y’s pre-school classes for a year, plus would cater for 15 summer camp literary program children.

Crystal Shores will eventually comprise 219 two- and three-bedroom villas.

Initial prices ranges from about $20,000 to more than $100,000 per week, depending on season and floor.

Much of its construction material is recycled, and part of the ecosystem-friendly approach will be the use of a saline filtration system for the resort’s pools, thereby eliminating the need for chlorine and other chemicals.

Guests at the function were treated to a tour of a model unit, which features all the bells and whistles usually touted by luxury home builders.

Suite sizes range between 1,100 and 1,450 square feet, while three big penthouses are also on offer.

The resort is the 47th of its kind in the Marriott Vacation Club stable.

More information is available at the Crystal Shores at Marco Island | Home Web site.

I saw this resort in the II Directory:

Marriott's Crystal Shores on Marco Island • MMI
    Marco Island, Florida

I'm assuming this is the one in the article, right?

So if you like, you can put a trade request in with II for after March 2009 - there should be LOTS of developer weeks available.

The property is right next door to the HGVC Charter Club where I was in July. Very nice section of beach.

Here's what it looks like now. The building shell you see was not constructed by Marriott, it's left over from the previous owners (Radisson, I think). Marriott is going to use this existing structure, rather than rebuild.

To put this into perspective, note the construction crane in the second photo.

If thats what it looks like now, its a little hard to believe that occupancy will really begin as early as March 2009.

Wow, that's a huge and deep white sand beach!!

How fine are the sands? Are they course or powdery?! And, the water, safe for swimming? Waves strong? I have questions galore. We may want to plan a trip there!

                Thanks for the picture!!

Ground shells so coarse but not horribly uncomfortable for the barefooted. Water is typical Gulfside calm.

I found 100s of shells at low tide. It is a very hard trade "in-season".

Pitt The construction on Marriott doesn't look like it has progressed at all since July!

WoW - what a nice beach - and it looks like a very upscale area...what do full ownership condos go for?

                      lawren,

Thanks for the update! Oh well about the sands, too bad it's coarse. We'll probably still try for a trade to visit there. Do you live around there? What's considered the in-season? I'd think every day...

In season would be December thru April. I was there in July last year and it wan't bad at all but I'm happier having an April week to go to the area this year .

No I live in the lower Hudon Valley region of NY. About 30 miles NNW of NYC.

and I guess your off to ex-ops now?

                          Marco Island

Marco has always been Naples' red-headed step-sister. Overall, the island has been sleepy...historically no strong covenants/regulations regarding building, etc. so in some parts there is a real mish mash of quality and home types. It is definitely changing, however. There are now $million + condos and homes in Marco with more, no doubt, to come.

The beaches are beautiful...the sand is ground shell, not as fine as say the great lakes shore or even the outerbanks sand. - the area is relatively quiet.

The full service Marriott next to the new TS property has been there forever (I used to go to cotillion there with my parents when I was a child - 30+ years ago). The property has been well maintained/upgraded over the years and is quite nice. The beach is the real selling point, however. It is lovely.

                          Best,

Marco Island is my favourite place in SW Florida. Nice and quiet and the beach is fantastic. We'll be there next January, our fourth exchange.
