  • Marriott/II designations

I've done a search but perhaps missed the answer to this question. I just did my first exchange (thank goodness for the lovely Marriott people who literally walked me through every step of the way!)

I exchanged my Maui Ocean Club for Kauai Beach Club and saw the designation of ZZAA next to it. Anyone have any idea what that might be? Also, I know when I purchased my Maui TS I purchased a specific view-- does that translate to the exchange property as well? And does a one bedroom exchange to a one bedroom or??

One last question-- I note alot of people referencing TUGS and I noted there is a cost for that board, and also a charge for Redweek. Am I going to find alot more information there? I'll be glad to pay it if everyone thinks it is worthwhile to do so!

I apologize for all the questions but I am very new to all this! Thank you all so much for a very informative board! I've read as much as I could before my eyes just blurred out on me lol. It's so exciting!

And before you ask.. yeah I was one of the unknowing masses that bought retail. Mea culpa. I gotta say tho that I think my salesperson is the best and am very happy with how well I was treated.. absolutely no pressure, truly! In fact I instigated the interaction by going to MMO to check it out. My salesperson advised me to walk around and talk to owners, which I did! But, I went back to my hotel and thought about it overnight, still no pressure from him at all... I returned and said.. ok tell me what you can do for me! At least if I did it all wrong I had a good experience lol

Your confirmation should tell you what size unit you have exchanged into at KBC, the size won't necessarily be the same as your deposit, and you should have specified the minimum size you needed when you placed your request (but you cannot request a larger unit than you own, though you might get it if one becomes available before a like-sized unit).

The ZZAA designation doesn't mean anything other than the unit will be assigned on check-in. However, Kauai Beach Club generally puts exchangers into the same "view type" unit as was deposited by the owner whose unit you are exchanging into -- this would be noted on the email you received from II upon confirmation, but NOT on the confirmation itself. If you didn't request an email, you may not be able to tell until you get there unless you can find someone at II on the phone to tell you the view type that was deposited (but they will also tell you that it d/n bear on the view type you will get). The exchange process doesn't provide a mechanism for you to get the same view type you own.

TUG's charge is for membership and all that gets you is access to more of the site-the most valuable of which is their resort reviews and ratings. Redweek's fee is not for their forum- but their forum is nearly worthless and is somewhat dominated by an opinionated and psychotic reject from other timeshare forums.
