Waiting to hear about Newport Beach

[ /COLOR]Last July, 2005 I put a request in with Interval for Marriott Newport Beach for August, 2006 using my Marriott Monarch November week. I am still waiting.....should I give up? I call Interval several times in a week but still nothing. Any suggestions?

I have heard that it is extremely difficult to get this trade during summer months. Even owners who do not own two weeks are finding it difficult to get July and August....

I agree.

Getting a summer week at this resort is one of Marriott's toughest trades. And the week you are using is not a strong trader. Thus, it's very likely that as a Newport owner decides to deposit a week, someone else with a stronger trading week than yours is getting that week.

Should you give up? No. You might get lucky. However, I would definitely recommend that you develop a backup plan. That could include renting a week somewhere or expanding your search to include more resorts or weeks other than during the summer. Consider, as many people do, taking the kids out of school for part or all of a week.

Note that getting a confirmation for a summer beach week at any Marriott will be a challenge for you!

Always travel in the summer

Been a Marriott owner for almost 6 years. I guess we have been lucky all these years as we always get something near the beach when requested. Being a school teacher, I can only go away spring break, July and August. We have had some great vacations at Marriott timeshares using our Monarch and Harbour Point weeks.
