On a recent trip to Arizona my wife and I went on a sales presentation at marriotts canyon villas at desert ridge.
The sales office is located inside the adjacent JW Marriott in phoenix. We pulled up right to the front of the hotel, had or car valet parked, walked into the place, turned left and walked right up to the office.
Promptly at 9:00 the salesman showed up and began his thing. After the initial intros, vacation discussions,ect.. we took a tour of the JW Marriott amenities (mostly the pool area) which we found out are avail. to the villa owners with shuttle service provided. The sales person remarked about the amenities at the villas but didn't say to much about them. I found it kind of strange that he kept playing up the JW things more than the villa property?
Inside the sales office they have a full size 2 bdrm 2 bath lock-off on display that we were shown (very Impressive!)
Because we are current marriott owners and explained that we wouldn't be buying today but just wanted to see the property and the amenities, we were never pushed into the annual plat. two bdrm but instead he tried to convince us that a 2 bdrm eoy gold (approx $16,000 i think?) was the way to go due to the" tremendous" trading power that the resort has.
After again telling him we would not be buying he thanked us for our time had the manager come in with the usual sales person survey and of course the offer to lock in this rate only today for the next 18 months , the friend referral program ect. Again after politely saying no thanks we were given our $100.00 visa gift card and shown the door.
I have to admit that as far as sales pressure goes this presentation was next to nothing. (even the wife commented that she thought they could have put a little more pressure on us) maybe Marriott is letting the product sell itself to the people willing to buy from the developer?
Overall i have to say that for 2 hours of our time I left feeling pretty good for once. (they even validated our valet parking?)
