  • Marriott & Interval Internatioal Trading

I was on the phone with II yesterday regarding a Marriott exchange - the short story...I was able to get a 2BR at a resort where I already have a studio exchange in the next 4 weeks.
Because the LOVELY Angela found it online at 7 am, I used a different week to grab the 2BR and had to call back during business hours to get MAR II to switch the exchanges .....

Anyway, when I asked them to reinstate the ongoing search for Aruba in March 2009, they asked if I wanted to put the Christmas dates in too - I said, it didn't matter as I really only was interested in the one week at the 2 Marriott Aruba resorts and the II rep said,

"With Marriott to Marriott requests, you don't need the 3 date/3 resort - you can request one resort and date and that is it."

I had suspected this to be true as on other occasions, I have been able to request one resort and one date but hearing it confirmed is a good thing.
Online, you still have to request the combination of 3 - but if u really only want one resort and date, call II Marriott desk and they will grant your request.

    What is II

What is II. You seem to know the Marriott system. I have owned for 12 years. I bought two weeks last year in Marbella, with the sole intent of renting the weeks... as my sales rep told me how. Well, he was wrong. I can't rent them because once you trade with Interval, the property cannot be traded. I am so upset. I am trying to find a way to get marriott to take the two weeks back. Any ideas? I teach... there is no way I would have bought 2 silver weeks for my own use.

Hi Dianne and Welcome to TS4Ms.

Yes, you can rent your sliver weeks, but you have to reserve during the silver time frame and then rent that .... you are correct that you can not rent II exchanges.

If you want to USE your weeks at a different time, you will want to reserve the BEST week during your silver time frame and then deposit the week with Interval International or one of the independent trade companies.

As far as Marriott 'taking them back' - that will not happen - but stick around here and find out how to best use your ownership.

More later - I am outside gardening - but read the stickie "Lemonade/Lemons" at the top of this forum.

II = Interval International. Many things are abreviated on these forums.

          Pat,

Yes, I have done this. Last year when I went to Europe, I needed an exact week, because I had hotel reservations in Italy & Belguim, that would have been impossible to change.

As you know, I got lucky, and got my week.
          Angela

If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

I've never had a problem requesting one specific date at one specific resort when calling in. For that matter I had on online search that included only two resorts but the entire month of May for dates.

The problem I'm having is I have a very specific request in. One resort and only one check in day....Friday. It's a request first so I haven't given up my home resort week yet. I'll give it until Allegiant releases fares for our travel dates, which will be 4 to 6 months before our travel date. Since we have young teenager traveling with us, Newport Coast seems like it would be a better fit if I can get it than Las Vegas.

Doug, I have been able to request one resort with one check-in date AND only a Saturday...which I believe is what u r saying - so it should be possible to request it - now whether II gets the inventory to fill your request is another story, especially with Newport, because of the popularity of the summer vacation weeks!
And since there are teens involved, I am assuming this is during school vacation.

OT but - my DD and her friend stayed there in the fall thanks to a sighting by the lovely Angela - and they LOVED IT!
