  • renting weeks

    Hi all,
I am new to the forum; been around Marriott for a few years and think I understand the system ( for the most part). However, I have been intrigued by some of the posts, especially camachinist, concerning renting of weeks to offset cost of ownership. We own 1 week at Aruba Surf Club; another at KoOlina (Oahu).
Is it possible/feasible to rent out the lock-off portions while retaining the master unit to use or trade? Obviously these rentals ore done privately through sites like RedWeek, etc. - is there any history of Marriott thwarting these outside rentals?

    Appreciate all the info.

There are many people who rent their weeks.
I have rented my Aruba Studio in 2008 and my 1BR 2009 both thru Redweek.com. I also like Craig's List Caribbean.
There would be no reason for Marriott to 'thwart' these rentals as they have their own very lucrative rental business.

I find if you post your rental right after you make the reservation at the one year mark, it allows people to use FF miles - a big consideration especially for your Hawaii week.
You own at two very nice properties; you should have no problem renting.
